Componentz

this is the only area of car audio im really not familiar with. I wanted to ask if it is worth gettin component speakers when you also have subwoofers or is it meant for like a car with no subs? Any input is appreciated and more info on component speakers and their price range

Well, this about 50% of car audio. Components are for clarity and quality. They are much better than coaxials. They should be used with a subwoofer. You need to use a high-pass crossover just as you would with coaxials, the midbass isn't supposed to be used as a subwoofer.

Oh, move to Audio.

component speakers and crossovers break up the audio signal sent by the radio into highs, mids and low's... the tweeters are only meant for highs (vocals), the mid for mid range sound and lows (bass)... coaxial speakers do all the above (depends if its a 3 way) which put a lot of stress into the speaker to produce all the sounds. highs should come from the front of the car, mid in the middle and lows in the rear. if you really want a kick ass system, go with the components and get a sub also.

As for prices of component speakers, they range from the lower hundreds and up. A lot depends on who the manufacturer is. For an example go to Discount Audio and do a search on component speakers. It will list many of the name brand manufacturers. Click on one and check the prices and compare them with another.
