Complete HID Replacement

so my right headlight went out one day and i was hoping it was just the bulb. no such luck. i checked the fuses and the power going into the ballast and that was all good. then i checked the power coming out of the ballast...there was none. so i figure i have a bad ballast. rather than pay acura some obscene price for the one ballast, i think i'm gonna just get a whole new HID set up.

anyone have any suggestions as to what HID set up looks real good, is compatible and costs in the realm of $400-600?

thanks...really need the help. i have limited time for research and i'm runnin out of money.

I dont think you can check if there is power comign out of the ballast... 23k volts it a little hard to check via a volt meter. Swap bulbs? If bulbs are swapped and the "bad" one works and the "good" one doesnt, you know it isnt the bulb.

You can swap ballasts but you have to remove the bumper but doign the next thing is practically as good if there is power.

Then you can remove teh connector going to the ballast and turn on your headlights with the volt meter testing each of the pics. If one of them is at least 12 Volts that is good. That in turn means that the ballast is bad. You can just get a replacement ballast.

If NO power on either pin, and u checked fuses then maybe some where down teh line a wire got cut. To test ballast and this theory, supply the ballast 12 volts and ground WITH the bulb in of course, and you can see if it lights up. If it works, then it is the wiring.

complete steps for you, at least what i would do

my fault, u said there is power going to the ballast... did u at least swap bulbs? if you did then the solution is just to check ebay maybe for a cheap replacement without going with new. aftermarket will not screw into the bottom of the headlight.

i think its like 128 for the inverter, another 150 for that box under the headlight and 136.xx for the bulb...swap bulbs before you spend any money.

The ballast isn't sending 25000 volts, the igniter/inverter does. The ballast provides a constant, stable 35w to the sensitive HID bulbs.

well, he didnt test the ignitor off of the ballast I assume and the the ballast is provided the stable 35Ws after it has stablized.
