Comparing the Gen 2 TL to Gen 3

Got a chance to finally drive a Gen 3 TL loaner at work today---WOW! I wasn't a fan of this new styling and its sort of growing on me and will have to since I won't be able to afford the newer style RL. Do any of you guys own both a Gen 2 and Gen 3 TL? I can see definitely where the Gen 3 is more of a sports set-up rather than a luxury ride. It does handle solid and seems to ride the road "tighter." The 270 hp is really nice. Upon flooring it, the car felt like it was getting out from under me and trying to go sideways! It seems pretty well built. I still like the styling of mine better I think. This new one is totally different with the controls and everything--nothing familiar about it on the inside. The seats are hard which kind of sucks but they hold you in like racing seats. The brakes are more sensitive and grabby--somewhat of a nice change since all Hondas seem like you have to put the pedal to the floor to get a good firm stop. For a car I once thought was hideous and would never replace mine, I'd give it a shot; but I still think I'm keeping mine for another 2 yrs or 100k. If I can afford an RL in 07, I'm getting that, otherwise it'll be an 04 TL NBP/Ebony. The techs at work tell me the Gen 3 is alot better built--but they're still too new to have discovered all the problems with them. Any of you guys going Gen 3 after your Gen 2 is time for retirement?

hey! ive got both 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen at home. I drive the 2nd Gen, while my parents have the 3rd Gen. The inside is different and way more sporty. The seats arent as cushy as ours but you get used to them. Its a whole new car, but i like mine but if someone threw me a 3rd gen, id take it in a heartbeat.

I checked out the New TL and i think it is very nice ride. the look seem more european, though it looked mean with those headlights but I still like my overed sized grilll on my 2nd Gen TL.

Too bad all Acura only have 4 ways power seat on the passenger side, include the RL. com'on my friend's 97 BMW has like 12 way driver and 10 way passenger with power headrest.

how often does your friend actually get a chance to drive his bmw with those seats functioning. we all know german quality isnt anywhere near acuras....is that because simple is better or bmw just likes expensive service repairs? if i were a passenger in my 3g i would want more seat movement as well...just sneaking in my blows to bmw where i can.

I think it's because of the simplicity that makes japanese cars ahead of european car in quality. I may be wrong though, but in my friends 528i there is whole lot more 'toys' in it than our 2nd gen TL.

I wish our TL has power tilt and telescoping , heated steering, one touch sunroof, powerfolding side view mirrors, a better center armrest in the rear. use botton rather than dial knob for temp and audio control.
