Post Color Talk

I like Aegean Blue Pearl, Anthracite.
I think Anthracite give the car a real Japanese car look. I mean before I only see that color in like Skyline and stuff. That color is rear man, I am pretty suprised they offering it.
How come no one on this board has been talking about it. I am the only one.
No one seems to care, Ya ,, I know it is not offered in Type-S. I mean, including Acura.Com itself , too much( or not enough, to TL lovers of course) is emphasis on S and no info on TL at all. I mean this a TL site, and I am know S is a more exciting car without a doubt. But it all seems like, I mean in the TL Discussion, people only talks about the 99-01 models( they seem ignorant of the whole new TL thing all together pretty much) and on the Acura TL Type S board, u only talks about the S. What about me? I am buying 02 TL, so should there be like a the "face lifted 02 TL-non S board" now?
Well, I don't know what I am saying anymore, exactly.
So, Color talk. What do yall think about Anthracite?

I was waffling on the blue, then I happened to see almost the same shade on a Neon and Grand Prix. That killed it then and there. It may be ok for a while, but I suspect over time the color will lose its appeal. A rage color that in time will date the vehicle. Some of the classic colors, black and silver, are timeless. Look at the colors offered by the more expensive marquees.

I agree the color will get old quick.
The colors of BLACK,SILVER,WHITE,RED,will stand the test of time. Some GOLD,GREEN,&BLUES will also look good years later. But when you get some of the colors like this BLUE they get dated in about 3yrs.
I like the color now but I would get tired of it.

Silver...probably not since my wife and I like the parchment interior. I guess we're gonna get a black one.

Your not the ONLY one. I've said all along that I LOVED the look & color of the Anthracite, only wish it was offered on the TL-S. This maybe the reason I don't get a TL-S for awhile. I love my Laguna Green Met. & don't like most of the colors offered for the TL-S, which by the way, this IS the Acura TL Type S forum. The Moders may have to move this subject over TO the General Disscusion forum, instead of moving stuff Out of there!

You only have to wash silver once a year.

Doesn't matter what color it is... if it's
dirty, it looks like crap!

I saw pretty much every color tonight, and I thought they all looked good on the new cars. I really liked the black and anthracite with the new front. The blue also looks great in person IMO. Pictures don't do any of the cars justice - you have to go out to see them in person.

What are you waiting for? Hurry up, go look

I've owned a black car for 3 years ... never again! Kills me to see fine scratches on it.

Most likely silver for me ...it looks awesome with the chrome grille, rims and and chrome door handles.

You think later on in the year (hopefully by November) they'll start offering the Anthracite on the Type-S? Who do I write to? =)

Wow I finally made up my mind on my new car - the 2002 TL S type. This has been a huge decision for me and I drove a lot of cars in the last 2 weeks to get here (Lexus IS, ES, BMW 325, Acura TL 2001 then the CL 2001 type S and finally the 2002.)

As soon as I decide on the color we're going to the dealership.... (even though my sales guy wants me back so I can take it to 100 )

OK I totally hear you guys on the aegean blue - you might get sick of it etc.... silver is my other choice - but listen up:
silver is the number one color of all new cars for the last 3 years and the car makers predict that it will be for the next several years..... will it be lost in a sea of silver cars?

If the S came in anthracite - that would be it. Plus I can't believe there is no red.

BTW - the BMW has a orient blue that i was immediately drawn to at the dealership - kind of in-between Acura's Aegean and Eternal blue. 1st thought - pretty! 2nd thought - I will need to wash this constantly to keep it so pretty <<<sigh>>>>

I guess silver it is......

Another test driver described the ride as follows:

"...Also, the suspension appeared to be pretty stiff and I felt EVERY friggin crack, pot-hole, etc. of the pathetic Motor City Roads. It was VERY uncomfortable (may not be as bad on asphalt covered freeways as in L.A."

Can you comment?

Some other test driver will say something else....basically you will have to drive it yourself and decide for yourself...and while you are at it, also drive a Sport edition of the BMW 330i along the same rouch roads and let us know your thoughts on it...

Congrats. 2002 TL-S is a good choice. What did you think of the CL-S, compared 2 the TL-S? I agree on the Anthracite would be great on the TL-S, but not avail. (yet!) FirePepper Red is a good color too. Maybe Acura isn't taking chance & making the car in lots of colors, & it wouldn't sell very well?!

hey thanks

if you don't need the 5th seat (as i do on occasion) get the CL type s

it looks way nice (read sexy hehe) and you can get the 2001 for $3k cheaper - the interior is identical to the 2002 TL S and the engine is the same

promise me you won't get that sundance gold

ps: talked to a dealer today about that yellow/orange color - most sold to women and I have an idea why: this past yr many designers had lines in a tangerine color (check last yrs oscars - women in orange dresses) this yr designers have a lime/spring green - have you seen all the VW bugs in that color all driven by women

apologies in advance to men who got the sundance gold - it's unique and that's a plus for sure

The more I think about it, the harder time I'm having picking a color. I saw a Taffeta White 2001 CL-S in the showroom, and it was incredible looking. Unfortunately, no can do with that shade on a TL-S. Same goes for Anthracite. Already have a dark green metallic car with parchment interior, so looking for something different. The Aegean Blue is nice, but a little too much for me. That leaves WDP, Silver and Black. Sorry to those that already have it and are enjoying it, but WDP has too much yellow in it. Get a Tafetta White and WDP side by side, and you'll see what I'm talking about. It's now a choice between Silver or Black w/Black interior. I'd appreciate any helpful advice!

Left over from last July. Are u guys talking about that Beige gold or that orange gold. In my opinion, never never that orange gold, mistake that Acura put that color out in the first place.
Personally, lot of BM colors are really unique looking. Too bad acura only offer so little, that we can't be more unique than we already are. Don't know what i talk about no more. Haha.

Ok i just went and saw the Aegean blue in person in the bright sunshine....

it's unique - it stands out... on the other hand the color was a teeny bit too much....

the fact of the matter is that i don't have a garage so it will have some dust on it, and the silver looked better....

now it's time for .... Let's Make a Deal!

cheers

For an alternative/objective way for choosing car color:

When you appraise a USED car at Edmund.com, e.g. 2000 TL, there appears to be a price premium for the less common colors like WDP and Gold...I wonder why?

WDP and Gold had (+) adjustments for color while common shades like black, silver, red, green, etc had (-)adjustments......validity?

Probably has something to do with LESS cars produced with the uncommon colors, i.e., more RARE. One would think that cars with popular/common colors would be more in demand and thus dictate a higher resale value!

I agree with u , it make sense to see rare color attract more demand. Since they are rare. People would literally dig the country to find the color they like. But still don't like that orange gold color at all.

Hey guys who can we write to or complain to at Acura to get the anthracite metallic on the TL-S? I won't be getting the car until after summer so I can wait, but I sure would love to grab that color.

Actually I like the WDP. I have a Taffeta White Accord right now that I'm going to trade in on a WDP TL-S. I think that the WDP looks classier than the Taffeta white.

kuan48,

I agree with you on the Anthracite Metallic. That is a great colour, but too bad it's not available for the Type-S. In Canada we only have the Eternal Blue Pearl, what is the difference between this colour vs. Aegean Blue?

I test drove the TL Type-S yesterday at Burrard Acura, and the car was amazing. A big improvement over my 99 3.2TL. Handling was more stable without being harsh. The TL Type-S feels more balanced than the CL Type-S IMHO. CL Type-S feels more front end heavy.

Well, U can try calling Acura directly right. Most of all big cooperation will have a comment hot-line of some sort. Putting threads on this forum would probably help, too. I wouldn't be suprised that Acura monitors sites like this. Thirdly, U could do a reader mail to say C/D, Road&Track, Automobile magazine. Ya, do that, do it for Anthracite.

I liked the blue at first, but figured it would be too much color after a while and really stands out (for cops). I went with the white diamond pearl and I love it.

janda_janda - You are right about the Eternal blue being hard to keep clean. I had the Imperial Blue on my '00 TL and it always looked dirty. I would wash it and it would look so awesome - for about a day, then it would look like crap for 2 weeks.

I got the silver for my '02 TLS and it is great - you won't be disappointed.

The one my friend test drove was Aegean blue. We both liked the color, but neither of us like the black "wood" trim. And I'm not really a big fan of black leather. If you could get the blue with the parchment leather and real-looking wood trim, that'd be nice.
