Coilovers cheaper than springs and shocks?

I was thinking about getting the comptech springs, but since I read on here they will cause my shocks to go out faster (and I already have 70,000 miles) I figured I'd have to get new shocks pretty soon. New shocks = $550, springs = $275, total = $825. Since the tein basic coilovers are only $675, wouldn't it be cheaper (and better) to just get coilovers? they come with new shocks, right? (at least thats what I thought I read on here...)

also, how do you adjust coilovers if you don't get the EDFC - is it something you can do easily at home? I know nothing about coilovers, I just don't want to drop money for springs only to have to buy new shocks and then regret not getting (what I hear is) a better solution.

Only question would be is how long will Tien coilovers last?

Since the shock portion would wear out you would have to spend another $675 when that happens right? Or can you "replace" the shock portion?

The other consideration is the drop range available. If I'm not mistaken, the highest setting on Tiens is still a bigger drop than CT springs in which case you will have to factor in the cost of a camber kit.

if you get the tein basic, u will only be able to adjust the spring not the shock, so you cant get the edfc.

The TEIN SS is the one you want if u want adjustable shocks which runs for $850. The EDFC is an optional unit that's screwed on top of the shocks replacing the manual spinning click settings. The edfc is nice for the rear shocks b/c u don't have to take out ur rear seats or drill a hole on the rear panel to get to ur shocks. The edfc can be set to adjust 32 settings instead of just the 16. EDFC cost $320.

You can buy the shocks or springs by themselves.

I hope this answers your questions
