Cobra SVT layed the spank on me

Just for fun I was racing around with a Mustang Cobra SVT this morning on the way to work (I have no idea if it was the new 03 with a supercharger but I don't think it was) . Don't get me wrong, I knew I would get spanked. I just wanted to see how bad. We raced twice from 60 to about 110 and this is the first time I have played with a car and felt like I was without a doubt spanked. He pulled on me the whole time and had about 3-4 car lengths by the time we hit 110. Well, now i know for sure that they will eat us alive. Oh well, it was still fun.

Talking

Hey, you can't just race cars that you know you can beat. Sometimes you have to see how you measure up against the big boys.

Thats right, if you can't race and lose gracefully then don't bother racing.

Heck... just yesterday I raced a yellow Modena on the FL. Turnpike... Had him by about 7 to 9 car lengths.... (i don't think he was trying, though). ;-)

I raced a M3 a while ago. I got my ass handed to me but it was fun. The guy driving the M3 was really cool and stopped me and told me that there was a cop around. His V1 was goin nuts.

LoL!
Reminds me of a time when I decided to hit up an older M5...the kicker was he had a nice Dinan badge on his car...
Well needless to say, my modded lude got spanked to Germany and Back! We were probably doing about 70 when it all started, so I figured...drop it into 3rd and keep up for a little bit...
Oh My was I in for a treat....To this day I have never seen ANY car walk away from my lude the way that M5 did :wow:

Nevertheless...I pulled next to him...he rolled down his window and said "hey that's not bad for a 4-banger" LoL

Frolich, kudos to you for trying and even for only falling behind 3-4 car lengths!

Good quote!
Reminds me of the time I tried to race my friend in his '95 STS vs. my 94 Integra GS-R. Off the line....no contest. He put a serious coat of "ass wax" on me. But I killed him in the turns. But it was fun anyways....and safe!

That's about the same as racing the '01 Cobra, the 03 is even faster.

I've heard of E46 M3's hitting the 12's in the 1/4. Still not on par with the 03 Cobra, but not to bad for a NA v-6 that handles like it does.

How does the 3.2 Litre V6 Engine in 2003 M3 Go 0-60 4.8 secs and produce 333 HP While ours is way lower (TYPE S - 260 HP and mid 6's for 0-60) Also why is it that The Type S is faster there built the same and have the same engine RIGHT?? So How did they give the Type S like 35 more HP?

the M badge gives them so much more hp than the S

The BMW uses an inline 6 and it's just tuned way more aggressively than the acura. It has 6 throttle bodies, ,one for each cylinder while the acura has only 1 throttle body. M3's redline is around 8000 RPM. Higher redline = higher hp for similar displacement. THe torque isn't much higher than the acura though. There is only so much torque to b e had with that displacement and no forced induction. If acura wanted to...they could get a lot more hp out of their 3.2 V-6. But they want drivability and mileage. Also, the M3 is a manual tranny or an Auto with electronically operated clutch. This helps the BMW lose less hp through the drivetrain than the acura. it's also about 200 lbs lighter than the acura. Add much more agressive and less economic gearing and that is why an M3 is faster.

m3 is also a sports car, TL is a "sports sedan".

if acura made our cars that powerful, my insurance would be like $10,000 a year =(
