Climate Control temperature

I have a late-build 01 CLS, and I'm having troubles with the climate control system. When I set the temperature to 74 (full auto), the system won't keep the temperature even close to that. This is what normally happens: The temperature in the cabin warms up to about 74, and then seems to shut down. I can turn the temp knob up as high as 89, but it won't warm the cabin up.

I took it to the dealer, and they told me that they ran all of the diagnostics and self tests on it, and it works just as it should.

My dad has a 01 Accord EX-V6 (virtually same climate control system) and his holds the temperature that you set very well.

Should I try taking my car to another dealer? Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks for the help.

i dont know if this is the same problem as you but i know that there have been a few times where the temp was cold outside and i had the climate set at 72 auto. the car would get like 90 degrees indide and i have to set it at 65 degrees to cool down. then after a while i set it back to say 69 degrees to keep comfortable. this has happend 2 times. as far as getting the car cool that has been no problem it seems i have the opposite problem.

Yeah, that is similar to what I have had. I have to constantly adjust the temperature setting, because the car won't hold it on its own. I have had this problem with both heating and cooling.

When you take it back to dealer ask service person to ride with you. Then ask to test drive a new one to see if it does the same thing or not.

keep your vents up, keep you knees down

There is an internal temperature gauge to the right of your steering column (it is a 1.5 x 1' vent slot). What may be happening is that the vents are blowing to your knees and your pants is in close proximity to the sensor and tells it that it is warm enough in the cabin. Move the vents up and keep that area clear. set it to 74 and try again..
