cleared my headlights and the BullSh*t doesn't stop

I just finished clearing my headlights and finally got my car back from the shop...Well...talk about bad karma...let me list the problems...

1.) VSA and ABS light was on. I took it to my friend's shop down the street and as we are ready to hook it up to the computer...it shuts off...I guessing it needed to reset itself being as though I had that car without a battery for a little while...Problem fixed.

2.) Headlight didn't want to turn on...I thought it was a bulb but turns out it was one of the wires that wasn't grounded right. Made me waste $240 for a new bulb...I know that is a lot for a freaking bulb, but damn..I was in a rush and went to JOHN EAGLE ACURA! For those of you in the Houston Area, John Eagle dealerships are cool, but expect to pay for price and then some from them..they tax the shiet out of people. Problem Fixed.

3.) NOW!!! I have a Foggy driver side headlight...I know it is a leak somewhere, but I want to know how to resolve this quick and with minimal effort..Meaning without having to take apart the headlight again...PLEASE HELP...As soon as I get this done and there is a sunny day then I can wash my car, have it detailed, and not worry about anything being f*cked up!! And I'll take pics and post them up.:licka: :toothless

yea, theres 2 big dealers for acura in georgia. ed voyles and acura carland. i called up acura carland for a new bulb he said 240 also but i called ed voyles and its 170...lol
i hate dealers. mine fogged up and it built up enough moisture to mess up my ignitors and had to be replaced. so i have factory housing on now. screw the clears, ill keep it jdm with amber and the jdm side markers. i still have the clear headlights. only the passenger side leaks a little bit, the drivers side is tightly sealed. tell me if u want them

hmmm i set aside one free saturday to do it, finished it by the next day, but thats because I forgot how to reattach the HID paperpin like thing ... i fiddled with it for nearly three hours... other then that, it should be pretty much straight forward.

Hey vsop. I had the same problem the first time i clear out my headlights also. Man i had so much water in there that i could put a gold fish in. I had to take it back out and cut out all the old silicone and put on new ones and waited for about 2 hours and the back on the car. Problems are gonna expect when it rains for about 3 days straight and it fogs up a lil. I can help you out since you live up north also. Just let me know. I can take the TL headlights out with my eyes close now that i done it so many times.

if you want to fix it quick just take out the high beam light to nuetralize the temp difference and it will get rid of condensation...then on a nice day take the bumper off and re-seal around the entire light (can be done without taking the housing out).

yup i agree sometimes after a car wash i get a lil mist in the headlights this is prob due to the fact that if u changed ur high beam, turn sighnal etc bulbs if u dont but the housings in perfectly and leak what so ever can cause condinsation i remeber my 96 blazer had lil holes on the inside of the headlight housings that somehow would drain water w o letting anything sounds like a novel idea would be nice if other factories would follow

You can pop the lights apart and have them back together in 20 minutes. I usually take a syringe and pour water all around the seam when I am done to make sure there are no major leaks before I go and spend all the time swapping ballasts and bulbs. So far so good.

wow it has almost been a year since I posted this thread up and still someone replies. Man, where did you find this thread...Well since then, I've taken off that set of cleared headlights...It leaked again but on the Passenger side this time. It was pretty bad, and even caused me to blow a fuse. I've since gotten a pair of factory headlights and called it quits with clearing anything. My hid on the passenger side doesn't shine the same brightness as the driver side and I'm guessing it happened when I got all that water in the Ballast(from when it was condensating) and let it dry up...Chances are I need a new ballast but not yet. **** it, I'm done with these headlights...I, now, have a extra set of headlights that are cleared but have yet to be touched for the last time and last run at fixing the leak, if at all possible. Well, just to bring things up to date. Since this thread was brought back. Thanks for the info and help it was truly appreciated from all you guys.

I guess it depends on the skill of the person/shop that did it. I had a local accord guy did it, no problem at all. I am not yet confident enough to do it by myself

You should really keep them in a tight vice or grip for atleast 12 hours, this will ensure no leeking, considering you properly heated and reused the original silicone inconjunction with a tube of new silicone.

Since John Eagle Acura was brought up, what about Sterling McCall Acura as a service dealer? Are they any good or have you tried them?
