Where are you located? Im in NYC and had mine put on for about $900 or so. I had my whole front covered, including front lip and side view mirrors.

When you say "clear bra" are you talking about the 3M film that goes on the first 12 inches of the leading edge of the hood? If so, I had mine installed for $125

The clear bra would be a really good investment for you car in the long run. You dont have to worry about stupid chips that you get when driving on a highway. I was getting it put on my car but decided not to because i dont plan to keep my car. THe clear bra for my 03TLS was going to be $350, which imo isnt expensive. It covers the entire front bumper, the top end of the hood, the front headlights (if they dont have any chips on them), the side view mirrors, side skirts, and fenders. BTW im located in so cal

gdatw019,
Here are a couple of links for ya
www.armourglove.com
www.xpel.com

ColdFusionTL,
Some dealers will offer this option, kinda like tint or alarm. They just get someone from the outside to install it, jack up the price, etc. My friend got it done on his G35 by the dealer and later found out they hired a guy who works out of his house.

If anyone gets this done, I suggest getting it done by a professional. Unless you doing something relatively flat or not too much curve like the headlight/fog option.

Word of advice, don't shop just on price. Installing these things is not easy. I took a course wanting to become an installer and damn these things are a b!tch to install.

Check out the work before you jump on a cheap price.

I'm also considering a clear bra, but I've got Q's about it:

What kind of maintainance does clear bra require?
What if want to take it off, will it damage clear coat?

thnx

The product requires the same maintenance as the rest of your paint. Wash and wax as necessary. You do not want o use anything abrasive on the film. It does have a clear coat finish like your car.

The product will not damage your paint if it is removed. There are easy and hard ways to remove the film. Consult a installer before removing.

The product will also allow your paint to fade equally where it is and isnt so it doesnt look two toned like a black bra would do.

Here are some pics to look at HERE

If you click on the link in my sig it will take you to my web page. There you can click on exterior and I have a few pics of the bra. They are not the greatest but it gives you and idea what it looks like up close. As for pics from far away, well you can't even tell there is anything there.

The product looks better on the darker cars than say white. This would only be the case when the car is clean. You know what I mean black doesnt look good when it is dirty and either would this product on black, but wash it and you are back to looking good.

Here is a gallery of pics on different colors and cars for you to look at.

$1000 is way to high if you ask me. You can get the 2004 TL kit for $224. Does that mean they are charging almost $800 for the install. I know price isnt everything, but dont get taken to the cleaners either.

Here is a company that has the exact cut out of the hood, mirrors, front bumper and head lights.

Check it out;

http://mishield.com/

Just select your Year, Make, Model and Series. Then scroll down to see the cut out.

Thanx for the great info, I have called about 10 places around here in MD. The best price I have gotten for the TLs is $900.00. I think I am gonna hold off for now since I might sell the my car and get something with a little more power. I test drove a MB E500, the dealer gave me a great price without even sitting down. I realy want a E55 but the wait is about 5-8 months. The insurance is crazy, almost as must as the my car payments was on the TLs.

You can do better than that but you have to look and get recommendations. I know a guy in Kenilworth NJ who does a great job. I had it installed by a factory guy in NJ called Invincashield. I am still not satisfied with it. I paid $550 for hood and fenders. I later found a guy who would and will re-do it for $550 for the whole front end (hood, fenders, bumper, and mirrors). Like I say, shop around.

If you go to a dealer, you are paying another mark-up. If you search on google.com for 3M Clear Bra you will get all sorts of hits.
