you should be fine with a k & n filter cleaning kit, all it is is basically a degreaser (takes out the oil) and then oil(to attract the dirt) any how, how do you like the air box? how loud is it at vtec? can you compare vs stock with removed resonator? thanks

Thnx alot its about tym to clean it anyways. actually the icebox is not suppose to make alot of sound. Thats why they put that lil resonance chamber thing connected b/w the throttle body and the filter. i really wanted to cut that lil box out but ionno wat would happen if i do. but the icebox does increase hp. I can feel it at low-mid rpm. at vtec, the sound is jus a lil deeper than stock.

You CANNOT use the K & N filter kit on the Icebox. Guys if you dont know an answer, dont make it up.

You can use dishwashing soap ar any cleaner to clean the filter, but only use the UNI filter oil. K&N filters are paper, the Icebox is not. Oil is not oil in this case, so use what is recommended.

first of all you should take your own advice k & N is not a paper filter its cotton gauz between a wire mesh, big difference than paper. Plus I have asked the same thing and people have said they been using he k & N recharge kit for their foam filters aka (monster flow and comptech drop in filter)....also some of the shops have told me to use the K&N kit also, btw other memebers from the av6.com have use the k&n kit on the icebox with out a problem....so dont go off saying it doesnt work when you yourself dont know....none the less, you can also wash the filter with dishwasher soap and buy just the oil, which would save you money since you dont have to buy the cleaner, but there are people that i know who used the k&n kit for the icebox with out a problem....

Sorry my bad, I said cotton gauze instead of paper, You dont oil paper filters. All I was getting at was that its still not Polyurethane Foam which is what the Comptech is made of.

If you spray K&N oil and Uni Filter Oil (I have both in my garage, my Accord has an AEM with a "cotton"gauze filter. ) you'll see they dont have the same consistency, the K&N oil is thinner than the Uni-Filter oil.

You say it works and that people are using it with no problem. What do you mean by that? A TL-S will run with no oil on the filter, and even with no filter on it period. It will also run on regular gas, and with 20w-50 under the hood, but is that what you really want to do??
Hell Olive oil with coat the filter too, and dirt will stick to it also, but is that the best stuff to use??

Comptech recommends and ships the filters with UniFilter Foam Filter oil, that says alot right there, but if you want to use something designed for another media, feel free.

well this is a forum and this is were we express our knowledge and opinions, from wat i know and heard the k & n works of course ct will say to use theirs (go firgure....i wonder why) anyways. with that being said you should have said in the harsh manner you did that i was making up stuff i dont know....and when i mean it works, i dont have scientific data backing up dirt particles per million but, a simply look of the intake piping after the filter will say a lot, and if the filter is holding the dirt that says a lot, either way, i dont think that using either oil will cause your car to blow up or die any sooner, then again based on wat i heard and seen thats my opinion

If you check, I think you will find the K & N element is made of cotton gauze, and you are 100 per cent correct on only using the oil K & N supplies and not just any oil...

And I'm sorry that this was already covered in the few posts before mine. Tried to delete this one but couldn't. . .

Sorry if I was harsh, but you said you should be fine with no mention of others, and to me it sounded like you were making it up.

Also Comptech says to use Uni Filter oil. They dont make it themselves.

The K&N stuff is thinner and soaks into their cotton filters. The Uni filter oil is thicker and sits on top of the Polyurethane foam threads of its filters. Put too thin oil on it, and it will just gum up the throttle body quicker and let dirtier less filtered air into the engine.

I don't know, doesn't sound too convincing...
The K&N filter cleaner and oil should work okay on the UniFilter, although I've never tried it.
