CIPA Mirror Replacement

I'm a new user to this forum. Thanks for having me. I've just purchased a 1999 Acura 3.2TL. It's flawless aside from the rearview mirror that burst and left a black wave half way through the bottom of the mirror. The older lady I bought this car from just dealt with it. I was going to see if anyone knows if CIPA is replacing these at no cost still, or if there is any other ways to get a free auto tint mirror. I've read some of the horror stories about the tint dripping on the center console, and also the guy that drank some auto tint coffee...no good, but I want a mirror that isn't multi-colored. Thanks, for your knowledge...

Hi, welcome,
I'm 90% sure that that deal for the free mirror is over.
They are discounted at ~70+$
To be safe, get this done asap.
Wrap the mirror in some ziplock bags and drive it to the dealer and ask them to replace it.
Get a dealer to replace it as the windshield may crack/chip off at the attachment point (happened to someone) then its not your problem if it does.

I agree,, except have a glass shop do the install for 20 bucks-
they deal with it all the time, unlike dealer techs

our sponsoring dealers- see Vendor list at top of pages- have been doing around $75 for the replacement- which is half of retail price

Its a newer material inside that isnt bad for you,, is the story
the maker stopped the free exchange a few years ago

Acura no longer deals with the mirrors. And they claim there was no instruction to take care of people who complain about it.

Their supplier, Magna, for a time, apparently did a free swap-out.

Magna no longer does the swap. They have an electronics firm handling interior mirror issues, Sybesma’s Electronics, 616-392-6911, who will swap mirrors for $75 plus shipping, or rebuild the existing mirror if it is unavailable.

I did call both companies, but bought a new mirror from DelRayAcura for about $80.
