I noticed my stock mufflers are sounding like chopper at idle recently. It's loudest when I listen from the sides, next to the rear wheels. You guys notice that?

I've had that problem for the longest time. It's kinda like a puff puff puff right? It happens more when you warm up your car in the cold. After driving your car for a bit, it goes away.

Guys,
I have the same thing. This is a good one. Had me pulling hair out for months, then i finally figured it out.
Ok, its like a "popping" or "puffing" coming form the rear, when the car is idle, no real pattern.
Its actually not the exhaust making the noise!!!
Turns out, right next to the Y-pipe, there is the vapor control valve. Its this little rubber hose next to where the brake lines go in to that little black box. The TL vents vapors from the gas tank back in to the intake. Next time you hear it, pop off your gas cap (only for a split second) and you will hear it go away. This is tottaly normal, and dont try to "fix" it
otherwise, its an insta-check engine light. I know, from expierence heh.... Damndest thing i have seen yet. No other car ive seen does that. If you really wanna be sure its what im talkin about, pop your hood when it is doing it, and (on stock cars) where the intake "pipe" is, there are a few hoses going in to it. Pinch each one, really breifly, and you will hear it go away, depending on which one you pinch, i dont remember...
