Post Check out this rear view mirror - could work on our car

It's from the 2001 Odyssey. It has a compass and temperature display. It's around $225 from the dealer. Oh and it has auto-dimming like ours does.

I thought it was pretty cool.

are you sure that is from the 2001 odyssey, because my ex has one like that on her infiniti G20, she bought it aftermarket for $225, and it fits virtually any car.

Is there away to get auto-dimming on our side mirrors like our rear mirrors? Just a thought.

I would think it would be a hazard especially if you had tinted windows...The rear view is cool, but I wouldn't want my side views dimming. Cool thought though.

I have heard that you can obtain certain chemicals that when poured onto or places onto the mirror section, will actually "clear out" that area which will allow you to install whatever....like that V1 setup using the V1's remote. Can anyone confirm this?

The TL should of came with the compass instead of the temp. for the non navi. They should of put the compass around where the temp is. I see room for it.Is the temp always accurate? because i see it not accurate at time.

I like that a lot, do you have any more details on how to get it to work? Even though I have no need for it, I still want it.

Tim, can you get this? If so, what would the price be?

I sat in Jaguar S Type and its rearview mirror had a compass also. But the compass was actually embedded inside the mirror, not like how it is underneath the mirror as you see in the above pic.

Having a compass would be neat for those (like me) non-navi ppl. Can we use that Jaguar one on our TL?? That would be sweeter.

Someone once posted a pic of a rearview mirror that had custom radar detector lights built into it, where they were actually showing thru the mirror part.

Pretty cool, but really expensive from what I remember. The example shown had the V1 lights in it, and the job was done in California for something like $500.

Wish I knew more. It's from the Honda Odyssey so I would think it would not be too hard to wire up.

They sell universal rearview mirrors with the temp and compass. See them in the JC Whitney catalog all the time.

Thumbs up

The first mirror pictured is made by Donnelly Electronics - they make a lot of OEM stuff. they are at www.donnellye.com - they always advertise in Motor Trend and Car and Driver etc. I wonder if that Odyssey was an aftermarket installation or if Honda is buying the units from Donnelly. I've wanted to put that in the TL since I bought it, but have been unable to determine if it has a mount compatible with our cars. If anyone knows for sure, please post!
