Changing rear rotors

Is there any thing special about changing the rear rotors/pads on my 01 TL? The repair books say I need a locknut wrench and turn the caliper piston. I dont understand this part.

when changing the pads the the rear pistons on the caliper dont just push in, you have to turn them and that will draw them in. there is a littel tool that goes on the end of a socket wrench that turns them in. any auto parts store will have them

almost any auto store will have the little universal "cube" tool that goes on the ratchet. this thing is total crap. make sure it is the right tool for your car and not the universal one.

i found the easiest way to do this was with a brake spreader and a set of channel locks. i would twist the piston with the channel locks (being mindful not to tear the rubber dust boot) and apply pressure with the brake spreadure (light pressure so as not to damage the piston). it took a little longer but it worked.

i actually plan on buying the right tool next time for doing this. it's worth the extra couple of dollars in my opinion.

i believe you can order the car-specific tool from autozone, pepboys, or any of those guys. if you come up dry then ask the dealer what they usually use to do it.

i took your last post to mean they don't have one for sale, but if you meant they don't have an acura/honda specific tool then you may as well try the "cube". i thought it was worthless but hey, it might work for you.

and seriously, let us know what you find out because i will be doing this soon. i will most likely use my old tried-and-true method of the channel-locks/spreader combo.

good luck!
