Talking Chalk one up for us S-Racers

A good race with a BMW M3 that is. 199? model with nice wheels and a tag that read "M-Pilot" Don't think he had any other mods.

The guy comes flying up out of nowhere and slows down next to me. Then he starts jumping on it goating me into a duel. We end up going at each other 3 times. All three runs ended in a virtual tie reaching 100MPH+ on each of them. On the last run we came up on a traffic light I slow down and he runs the red. I guess he was seeing red at this point. For those compliant drives, we were on the outer edge of town so no lives where endangered, except our own.

Two of the runs started between 40 and 50 and one just under 30. Sorry, no redlight or standing start opportunities.

In every attempt there were points when each of us made ever so slight pulls on the other, but they were consistent on all runs. During the lower speed run he pulled me initially by 2 feet and then as the VTEC RPM started to howl, I started pulling on him ever so slightly. He shifted to second first then me and again he pulled me, but less so this time and we stayed neck and neck until I got above 6000RPM and started to pull on him ever so slightly. Then he goes to third and I'm right there with my shift at 7000RPM. This time we stay even, but as I get above 6000RPM I start to pull 1-2 feet on him and next thing you know we're just passing 100MPH and slow down.

The two 50ish runs went pretty much the same. So no clear winner because neither of us were perfectly aligned to start the runs, but I did hold a foot or so advantage on him in all three races.

Let the howls of the unbelieves start.

My TL-S has killed both my friends bimmers: A 2001 330ci manual and a 98 M3 Auto 4door. Both were good races, but I edged both of them out. I know we can pull on M3 auto's, but the stick ones are a bit quicker than our TL-S. However, with the right/wrong driver behind the wheel, anything is possible. Anyway, good race and keep representing the TL-S!

The 199x M3 has only (listen to me: ONLY!) 240 HP, so even though it's torquey I can see how a TL-S would be right in the ball park. Funny thing is, the M3 has this reputation as the world's preeminent sports coupe/sedan and Acura is still trying to earn respect. Just goes to show again what I've been saying--that BMW is living off their reputation (which is largely undeserved)!

Ultimate Sport Sedan?

BMW is known for the smoothness, feel, handling, ride combination etc. That's why they call them the Ultimate Driving Machine.

Some feel that the Audi is close, and others are catching up.

Probably RWD makes better sports cars, and it's hard to argue with their good combination of performance, handling, looks, and high price :-)

Like I said before. I have them on my most wanted list and spend the time "hunting" them. There's no joy in beating up little sisters. :P

Based on the latest GS400 posts with GS430 stating that the TLS can't beat a GS400 the has moved the GS400 to the top of my most wanted list.

I hope it doesn't take too long to find one. The folks around this part of town are older than I am.

So far the only whipping in the making was a 2001 Vet, but they didn't have the gut to push past 60. And yes they would have and or should have whipped me good. But I wanted to see by how much.

Will post the results . . . good or bad.

I rarely use SS mode. Too slow and not enough control for me. I use manual mode almost always when driving. Only when I'm not hunting or if I have people with me do I leave it in D5 or D4.
