Certified Acura's???

Hey guys,

Is it possible to purchase a vehicle from Acura that has been deemed certified without the certified warranty? I'm asking because I've looked at quiet a few certified 04's, which in my opinion have minor issues that clearly identified that the cars have not been inspected properly and in one case had one of the bus boys (for lack of a better name) at the dealership confirm that many times they just place a certified sticker on the car and throw it on the lot. As a result I feel that the cars don't really command the certified price and in all honesty I can do without the extended warranty but I don't know if I can approach the issue with a dealer and if so, how?

In my opinion going used isnt really needed just find a good private sale and then take it to a mechanic to be checked out.

the dealer supposedly pays for that process of CPO. then in turn you have to pay for it. unless they are desperate, i say no chance.

Yeah I highly doubt it. Acura wouldn't budge on the price at all on the 03 TL-S I wanted. They're like we don't do that sort of thing here at Acura. Well excuse me! Same thing happened to a friend that just bought an 07 Mercedes. Apparently rich people don't have to haggle.

And yes I've heard about the certification scams. I have a good friend is that assisant service manager at our local Toyota dealership and he told me the same thing. He said it didn't used to always be that way, but then they found ways to cut corners and save money on the reconditioning.

You got it right. They just place the Certified on the car and put it on the lot. They only did what the customers normally look at, like floormats, engine oil, airfreshinner, and call it certified.

I wouldn't buy an 04 without extended waranty- the gen 2 trans probs may extend to you too!
Get the car checked by YOUR mechanic and cost of repairs needed.
Compare that to the list the dealer SHOULD provide as part of the Certified Car thing saying they checked or replaced the following items- its a 150 items!!
Often they make a list of needs and when they car sell to you- they fix before delivery
Not going to invest in a car they have not sold yet, basic business sense

Really want to haggle??- you have to BYPASS the salesman, who is looking for his entire months wages from each sale

Go direct to the General Sales Manager or used car dept Sales Manager.
These people get paid on total sales $$ and want to make that last deal of the month to up their numbers.
Be prepared with your own numbers and finances in hand- or they get the upper hand.
Anyone buying a car should take a trusted friend to help inspect, and help you stand up and walk for the door when needed.
WAAAAIIIIITTTTTT The manager runs after you screaming
Whats wrong??

You Sir,are speaking retail and I am speaking realistic- I made my best offer so,
Good Day to you Sir, I said GOOD DAY!!!!

You will get respect and close to what you want to spend with that tactic

Good Luck- there are always more cars out there!

Well supposedly the sales associate talked to his sales manager. Uh huh... I was pleased to see the car sitting on the lot for many months afterwards.

When I drove to the part department I made sure to roll by real slow so that the sales guy I worked with saw me.

They always go "talk" to the manager- what a laugh
Its ALL part of the sales scam
Most of the time the salesman goes in the restroom and writes somes numbers and crosses them out- writes more and comes back to you "You're beattin the piss outta me on this one buddy!" Here is the BEST deal
Remember- the salesman wants his full commission- anything less means less $$$

<---------------Anyone else paying this much for gas?

Just got back from the Acura dealer again and they had another black 03 TL-S like mine. Same interior and navi, but no spoiler and chrome stockies. They wanted $21,800! Um OK...

And yes I'm paying that much for premium 01tl4tl!
