Exclamation CEL with a P0141 code

I got the P0141 code the other day and i replaced the o2 sensor today. The guy who read the code from autozone told me that it was the o2 sensor before the cat. I changed it out today and the code is still coming up so I took off the positive battery terminal to reset the code but the CEL came back on a few seconds after i turned the car back on. I even took it back to autozone so they can reset it with their scanner....but the same thing happend. Was i supposed to change out the second o2 sensor or am i supposed to drive the car a certain distance before it resets?

Check the sensor that's on the cat. It probably went bad.

Agree with above

People need to understand that car parts wear out and need replacement- thats why there are parts stores everywhere!

The 02 sensors are critical to engine management
Needing 2 would be reasonable at a certain mileage/hard use variable/good fuel changes life too
MOST other carmakers say to replace the sensors every 60 thousand miles for optimim performance and fuel economy!!!!!!!!!
The Bosch plug in replacements are good at about $65 each
NEVER buy the kind you have to slice the wired on

I'm a little confused here...there is a sensor ON the cat? I dont remember seeing a sensor on the cat when i was under the car today. I only saw a sensor before and after the cat. I changed the O2 sensor before the cat with a bosch sensor.

Yes sir, there's two sensors. There's the one you already see that's on the downpipe of the headers. And then there's another one, literally right on top of the cat. WHen the cat's cool, run your fingers along the top of it whenever you're under the car again. You'll be surprised to know it's been chillin there. Normally, that's the sensor that goes bad, not the one that's on the downpipe. By the way, the guys at places like autozone and advanced auto parts don't know shit about foreign cars, they think they know everything, but you'll be surprised after you really listen to the shit they say when it comes to servicing cars. They're only familiar with American pieces of shit. Here's an example, I was asking for the rear motor mount for the CL-S one day, and they argued with me that it as a transmission mount that goes in the rear... now that's sad.

But yeah, check out the 02 sensor that bolts to the top of your cat, you can't miss it if you feel around.
