CDR's (burned cd's)
I just tried a few different brands of cdr's and it takes the factory stereo forever to locate tracks and play. Has anyone else had this problem. I usually use memorex digital, music, 80 minute cdr's and they work and sound great. The ones I'm having problems with are Fuji and Prime Peripherals.

I have the same problem. Try using the Gold on Gold CDRs (Kodak is one brand that makes them). Silver/Blue CDR never work correctly for me. Someone told me that the Gold/Gold work the best because they reflex better than the Silver/Blue CDRs. I've also used Gold/Green they seem to work fine too.

Thanks for the info. Now I have a ton of concerts and other hard to find stuff on discs that only work on my home/computer cd player. I wonder why the car cd players have a hard time with burned discs?

Yes, those CDs dont work very well for the TL's stock CD player. HOwever, it works very well for the home Hi-FI system and those 6 disc car CD players.
I think the reading system for TL is too sensitive and can't decode too well.
Honda single disc CD player having such problems.

I have problems as well with burnt CDR's. Could it be the burning process or the speed of which I burn the cdr's with?
I use a Creative 4x Burner, and i have problems with maxell and sony...
never tried the ones with the gold such as Kodac, cause they are expensive...

All my CDR's go into my factory changer..it has no problem reading the CDR..The front unit reads at times, and other times it's annoying to wait forever for it to read..

I got my 2000 HU replaced and I am havne even more problems. The only CDRs that are workign in there are original CDs or Black Memorex CDs. Don't ask why, I don't know why the Black Memorex cds work.

God these Bose HU care crap. I know 4 ppl who had their HU replaced and 3 out of 4 had a better working HU that plays everything. I guess its a hit or miss if you have the HU replaced. Still i would recommend it if you're under warranty. You got nothing to lose.

I HATE THE BOSE HU
normally, I'm able to play memorex cds just fine, they are the only things that work for me. I got new ones that look exactly like the ones i've een using, but instead they are for audio. they dont work at all now.
it's sad cuz i have a $27 - $28K car and the stupid s**t wont even play CD-Rs. My friend has a civic with a stock cd player and it will play a damn slice of peperoni if you put it in there

Okay - CDR's - there are only a few companies that acutally make CDR's and them oem them to TDK, Maxell - what have you...
The age of your burner has a lot to do with the quality of your burned CD's. Newer burners have burn proof, c1 and c2 error correction and media/speed control.
I use a LiteOn 52X CDRW drive and every brand of blank you can imagine, most I get for free or for a few dollars after rebates. I have 8x media that burns just fine at 48x and some 48x media that the drive will only burn at 32X (in combination with NERO 5.5).
I have copied cd's at every speed but nothing under 24x and never had a problem with them in the changer.
What you really need to look at it the DAE quality of your drive (the one you use as the source). There are tools in NERO to do just that. Digital Audio Extraction (DAE) is the "copying" part of the source drive to the target. If you quality is less that 10 then you will have problems. Just as important is burn proof and c1 c2 error correction on your CDRW drive. If the source quality IS less than 10 then the C1, C2 error correction can kick in and fix that. Burn Proof controls the drive itself and manages the speed of the drive and the buffer so you don't make coasters..(if the buffer gets empty and the drive has nothing to write then...blat...coaster).
Newer CDRW drives are pretty cheap these days some as low as 20 bucks with rebates. The very best top of the line is Plextor, LiteON would be a close second and much cheaper (LiteOn oem's their drives to most CDRW makers, including Plextor).
