That's great news to hear, if happen again just replace rear one to pair front and back Denso sensor. You are fortunated to need only the front one coz mine's need to replace both to clear the light.

My light stayed out for just over 1000 miles but then came back on (P0420 again). I guess I could have replaced the rear O2 but honestly I am tired of messing with it.

The independent mechanic I mentioned before said he has had good luck with Walker cats. I picked one up at rockauto.com (great place, if you haven't tried it yet) for under $200 including gaskets and shipping, and my guy will put it in for me for $85. It comes with a 5yr/50K mile performance warranty from the manufacturer which as I understand it means if P0420 comes back they will replace it. The car will go in next week and hopefully the problem will not come back for years at least!

I'll post again a few months down the road, or when there is any other news on this.

Yes. You could had done rear one first for cheapper route, but you got warranty for 5 years so peace of mind.. Mine one is still no prom.
