I looked all over AI and AW and I can find pics of everything else hes done but nothing on his actual dash mold.

He has no radio; the Xenarc screen completely replaced everything... If he wants music, hes gotta use the computer.

He has an 80GB drive attached to his P4-based mini tower he has sorta rigged in the trunk, he has a few thousand songs/music videos...

When his car was at the orlando meet, i talked to him on the phone, we talked about his setup quite a bit and he said it actually is fairly easy without modifying the Xenarc a whole lot.

Only problem i saw was that he has 2 W7's in the trunk, but i think he solved the vibration-causing-harddrive-failure issue by porting the sub box up through the factory sub hole. I cannot do this with my W7, and thus far after a few months of use, i am starting to see some minor bad sectors appear on the drive in my carputer. no big deal, it will take a long time to crash it, then ill just reach over on my desk and grab another of many hard drives i have laying around.

Only thing i didnt like about the set-up Austin had was i just cant use that fuckin touch screen while driving... even with a stylus, its just too hard.... so im keepin my wireless trackball

I wish Austin could come back to A-TL and share with us

While driving using the touchscreen is difficult for many of the windows programs, I agree. If the buttons are big enough it is alright. Using media engine to play mp3s and search thru the directories for movies is perfectly fine because the buttons are as much as your finger tips.

i've seen other people make custom indash molds in other cars just not on the TL. the only place i could think of putting the 7" lcd is where the radio. there is also this indash single din mod, basically take apart the lcd and move it all into the single din case.

Here it is already done for you.

single din is about 2 inches high, that little tray is definitely not a din size.

Austin no longer has his TL............sad sad sad......

I plan to use my old 1 Ghz Dell Laptop and use it to connect to an LCD screen of some kind. I don't really want to mount the computer itself, so it's hidden. I want everything to look stock. I don't want to remove my stock radio either. I was thinking about just mounting a liliput touch screen like Bxscing, but then I live in a college town and I don't want my car getting broken into. So when I have time, I guess I'll come up with something to mount a screen in the CD holder thing above the radio.

If you come up with a way to mount it let me know. I am want to see what this other guy has planned when he post some pics. Living in NYC it doesn't get much worse I guess. I put it there so I can remove it easily, it doesn't look the best yet but I get to remove it when I leave the car and I don't have to remove my stock HU.

I'll post some pics in a few minutes.

Btw, you can mount the laptop in the trunk or under the seat. I plan to move mine to the trunk when I get a chance. Get a RF wireless keyboard and mouse, they usually come with a 30ft range so that will be more than enough. Get an extension VGA cable M/F so that you can extend the lilliput cable from the front to the trunk. The one they supply is good enough to get under the seat.

A link for a RF wireless keyboard. The keyboard is pretty small so easily able to be stored.

Here are some of the parts I grabbed from Home Depot. I will probably have to work on something else but this one works. That tray is the 03 TL tray I just found out that the 99 TL trays are different. It looks much easier to do this with the 99 TL tray.

Thats the wireless KB and mouse combo i picked up... I really liked the kayboard a lot, but the gyro mouse pissed me off too much so i went to the wireless trackball so i never have to move a mouse. The keyboard would have been great to keep, but even at compUSA's reseller price it was still $100, and it just was not worth it so i just use the on screen keyboard (osk.exe) built in to windows XP...
