^ Maybe that's why he has an overlay there.

Don't they fab those for other makes and models though?

i know this is an older thread but no point in starting another one

so does anyone have a picture of an 02-03 tl with a cf hood on it? ive been looking and looking and i havent found anything

i know someone who has a vinyl company in tampa bay, fl and he has a great CF weave design. i think im just gonna end up having him wrap my hood with that vinyl along with my engine cover too.

here are some pics of his work. wat do u guys think?

i dont understand y no manufacturer made cf hoods for 02-03 models. cf hoods on 2nd gens would make it look agressive as fuck with the black headlight housing.

im gonna see wat ill do about this situation. my plan is to have a cf hood on the car. ill prolly do the outline of the grill in cf too and leave the inside part in chrome. the black headlight housing would compliment that too. i def want an aggresive front end on this bitch in the next couple of months. major changes coming within the next 2 months. cant wait

^^hood not fully closed in this pic.. and fitment is perfect! Chances of finding one? next to none... i searched for 3yrs b4 i got this. costed me $1000+ there's one left but in really poor condition that StanMan is selling with a blue CF lay. He was the ONLY guy who HAD the CF engine cover that was ever made by OE. the hood is super light if i remember it weight just under 12lbs and was made with the smaller 3x3weave so the pattern isn't as big like VIS hoods and looks more classier i think. Anyways enjoy

or was it the 1X1weave? can't remember now.... in the day time when the hood is popped you can see right through it since it's only one lay... pretty cool

^^ VIS make them for the 99-01

you'd be surprised how strong it is plus it came from the US to Canada though shipping!! and it was just in a box with newspaper it... then one horrible day... my buddy was checking out my car and left the hood on the latch and he told me after... a day later i take it for a drive... it survived! and just had to polish it out and fix the nuts... still disappointed...

i got a cf hood on an 03 tl-s through one of my friends in VA. the guy goes through cars like people use toilet paper with the runs. took him a while and had to pay a lil bit. but the fitment is perfect. you can judge for yourself. oh and if you can get your hands on one, you're definitely gonna have to get rid of the hood struts from the stock hood. i also got the foam protection underneath, so the cf hood isnt takin all the heat from the engine bay. i guess im just bein a lil precautious so the color of the weaves dont change on me cuz another one my buddies got a boser cf hood on his jetta without the foam and there were a few spots where the heat got to it and turned the color a light brownish

I got one off ebay over a year ago for my 99. It is still in great shape and the carbon is of good quality. The only iossue i have with fit is on the driver side above the wheel it sticks up about 1/2 inch. I think the issue is with where the latch is located. I think it is too far back by 1/4 inch and is causing a slight stress which in turn is "lifting or flexing" the hood on one side. other side is perfectly flush. I gave up trying to fix it a long time ago. lol.
and make sure you ask about the shpping b4 you buy it, cuz I got screwed.....

edit: that oe tuning c/f hood looks nicer than mine. mine was made by CarbonFX.
