It could be that your motor mounts are on there way out. Define rocking? Like the entire car shifts when you turn it over?

There are a couple threads on bad motor mounts which describe how to test to see if yours are bad. I think that you need to have one person turn on the car while another person looks at the engine and how much it shifts when you start it up. I hope this helps.

It's just all those conecting rods and crankshaft weights trying to move through cold/thick oil in the oil pan.

I put in a factory engine block heater ($35 ?) and it never rocks when I have it plugged in overnight (though it doesn't take that long to warm up the block.

yep,the entire car rocks when i turn it over,it moves back and then comes back front
and that's it,it moves about 1/2 inch,if i shut the car off and turn it back on it won't do it again.
