Car puzzle
I have a 2002 Acura TL type s with 175,000 miles for 2 years never gave me a problem.... Until now. I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden the car engine went quite and wouldn't exellerate when I push down on the gas. The car was still on and none of the indicators on the dash lit up also wasn't overheating. I pulled over shut the car off for about 7 min then turned the key and it started up this happened to me once before two weeks prior. I was able to drive it home but when I went to start it again it would try to start with power but not turn all the way over. I checked the engine, transmission and radiator fluid all fine. I checked fuses and battery power all good too. I know it can be a number of things that's why I'm trying to be as detailed with the issue as possible. I appreciate ppl taking time to read this and help me with my car issue.

I should have mentioned it earlier, but go to an Autozone and use their code reader to see if there are any diagnostic, electric troubles. The plug for the reader is in the center of the console, just under the ash tray. Just pull out the plastic corner cover.

aha! the infamous FPI FPR fuel pump relay issue of solder on joint
can be DIY- someone here recently detailed their chasing of similar problem
Do you have a bunch of keys on the key ring?
that leads to ignition switch failure, the back half of the ign switch has the electrical contacts and is diy replacement
Have you ckd the oil and coolant level - coolant in rad CK COLD ! and the res tank? make sure the hose attached to inside of res cap is on tight, then install cap back on res and make sure its sealed
OIL looks good color and level is same as normal??
the trick of waiting 15 minute when trans stops shifting will allow sludge to fall off the filter screens and trans will work against for short period of time

hey guys/ladies - remember that recent thread where the battery neg cable was loose inside its clamp that attaches it to the frame!? under the battery box as general location
that is the MAIN ground, there are several smaller ones that need to be ckd too- they rot with age

I checked at the dealership looking for the ground replacement kit, and they told me they've not done any ground replacements, it's not been an issue up here in the Pacific NW. Of course I checked and cleaned all mine during the last overhaul, did not see any obvious areas of degradation or corrosion. I would have thought it a bigger issues with all the wet weather, proximity to the ocean etc. I know the electrical grounding on these vehicles is crucial and a source of many unknown electrical problems.

ck each of the ground wires resistance, that's how you know when to replace, beside obvious wear or blue cruddage growth from terminals = which makes its way into the cables too
Now would be a good time to think about cleaning, testing and replacing Grounds as needed
POSITIVE battery cable is pretty important too~
A TV car show had an old Firebird with plenty of electrical and running issues, they did the whole ground cleaning thing showing improved readings along the way, didn't take much more than a wire wheel on a drill and a socket set to fix the problems, plus new main cables.
Who takes their gen2 TL to the dealer???.If you got the free inspection that didn't ck each ground, If the battery looked ok then it was- they are looking for easy work, newer cars with not rusty bolts....
So they wouldn't see any of them in need of ground wires, but common sense and science say otherwise.
The car is 15 years old,,wouldn't you like to ground your 15 year old girl??
Many have reported dealer parts dept claimed to have never sold a trans filter for us either~ and they wonder why the thing has such poor lifespan!!
