My engine light comes on off and on. The AC makes my car jump when it is on . This does not happen when the ac is off. I was told it needed a MAP but??

The "jumping", is common on these cars but it shouldn't be so much that it overpowers your brakes while stopped with moderate pressure on the brake pedal. When the A/C is commanded to run, the engine idle is slightly increased to compensate for the drag of the A/C compressor which can make the car lurch.

As far as the engine light goes, need more info. What code is it throwing? any other symptoms? Who told you about needing a MAP sensor?
