Three Wheelin'
Amit, Rallye is bu11sh1ting you. They always try to get around fixing your car. I went in because my rpms would drop down to 300 when i started a warm engine and they said nothing was wrong. I was like, are you blind??? The engine was about to stall and they said that was a normal idle. Take your car somewhere else and see what they say. PAA is a good dealership if you want to take the drive.
Good luck,
Roshan

Well, I never experienced any 'jerky' motions other than those provided by my TL-S transmission as it was trying to decide if it was going to engage in a gear or not...the thing that makes me suspicious is the RPM fluctuation. But again, I would have it checked out, just in case.

Too many ppl are soo quick to jump on the "BAD" tranny issue. let's slow down and assess the issue thoroughly first.

My '02 TLS has 11K on it. Sometimes when the engine is not fully at operating temp, it will act like it's downshifting (RPM's will jump 2.5-3K and the whole car will jerk) if I try to maintain speed at 50-60 MPH.
I believe that it IS downshifting to second gear despite whatever gear it's in. It doesn't do it all of the time, actually it's rather rare. However, based on the tranny problems that I've been reading about, I'm starting to be a little concerned. Only seems to happen when the engine isn't quite at full temp as it's never happened once the temp gets up to normal (though it has when it was JUST below normal).
On my old car, the tranny seemed to slam into a lower gear a lot when I tried to maintain speed at 40. Turned out that I had a leak and the downshifting was due to low fluid. When the leak was fixed, the problem went away. My TLS fluid is not low and there is no evidence of a leak.
Anyway, sorry about the book. Has anyone else experienced this and/or is this normal of Acuras?
Thanks in advance,
J

Just got my car back after 3 weeks in a LS integra. Sorry to tell you but its your tranny. What you do is drive about 40 or 50mph then step on it hard. Do this a few time but be sure to do it when the car is heated up. If you feel the car drop in gears then BANG as it catches the right gear it,s the tranny.
