Last week or two car has been idling at between 1000 and 1500 rpm's all the time. If the car is at a stop sign it wants to surge forward. It feels like its stuck open. If I rev the engine a bit it goes to normal idle 650 to 700 rpms.

 

Does the idle surge up and down at all?

Things to check for, Bad idle air control valve, throttle thats sticking open, cable sticking.

 

Idle doesn't surge.

Seems like its sticking open and when I rev it a little in park it idles normal.

 

Clean the TB plate and lube the linkage.

 

Cleaned Throttle body plate and lubed the linkage. Problem solved, idles nicely at 700. Thx.

Note: Cleaned the throttle body a while ago but neglected the top of the throttle body which was gunked up pretty good.
