Car was hit

Some of you might remember how I posted pics of how my trunk wasnt aligned with the rest of the car and there were some gaps. I brought it to two body shops today and they confirmed that indeed the trunk was worked on or replaced and the right rear quarter panel had been repainted and possibly the bumper was replaced. I called Acura of America and they said if anything was replaced then it violates the certification program and they suggested that I go to a few body shops to confirm. Also the VIN on the trunk is gone. Im going to the dealer where I bought it tomorrow to see what they want to do for selling me a previously damaged car. I didnt pay good money for a car that was repaired. What do you think?

I just called Acura of America too, and they said because it is certified, anything that was certified that was previously repaired isnt right. I looked at the certification paper and they looked at the trunk, R rear quarter and bumper and just checked it off. So I have a case here Acura said. They also advised me that if the dealership does nothing, contact the Better Business Bureau.

sorry for sounding stupid... but if i repaint my bumper because of chips or something, and someone buys it... would they be in the same predicament you're in? or only if it was in a collision and parts were replaced?

well the trunk was replaced and not put on correctly, also the bumper and right side tail light werent on correctly either. Who knows if anything under the car was hit or effected. I want to buy a CERTIFIED Acura knowing that its in the condition it should be for the price. That means no body damage ever, no major panels replaced or worked on or banged out

idk if ur being a smartass or asking a real question. My fucking trunk was replaced along with the rear right panel being hit out or repainted. Thats def not certified. i could care less about the bumper as long as its put on right, which mine isnt

I dont think there would be a problem...make sure they take off the bumper and do it right instead of leaving the bumper on and re-painting it

I think you need to find the definition of "certified" from Acura.

What do you mean. When I called Acura they said if those parts have been checked and certified then its a case between me and the dealership, if I can tell with my own eyes that something is wrong then why cant they?

Update

*UPDATE*...I went to Curry and talked to their general manager about this after getting confirmation from two body shops about my suspicions. He gave no help at all and actually told me and my mother that most cars on the road today have been in accidents. My mother flipped out on him, went into the showroom and created a scene. Curry ended up loosing three potential customers who were looking at some cars there as they walked out when they heard what my mother was telling the general manager there. We then called the BBB and NYS Fraud Department, as well as Channel 7 Eyewitness News. And then today ABC Eyewitness News (Channel 7 in NY region), 7 on Your Side called today interested in my story.
We will see how this goes considering one of my best friends relatives bought a car from there and it turned out it was in a big time accident also. He found this out because two days after he bought the car, he was hit very minor in the rear. This caused the bumper to crack, so he brought it to a body shop and they told him it will costs thousands to fix because there is a ton of damage. Hopefully I get this bullshit dealership by the balls soon. AVOID CURRY ACURA AT ALL COSTS.

From previous posts, it looked like you were trying to find some way to get rid of your TL.....looks like now you have an excuse. I would make sure to find a line in the "certified" agreement that says the car was never involved in any fenderbenders. Also, I think you should have asked for a carfax report from the dealer before you picked it up. Personally, I know I would have. These cases are tough. Good luck on getting things resolved.

I just hate knowing that I got screwed over, thats why I want to get rid of it. This also affects the resale greatly because when I sell it, I dont want to be in the same position that the dealer is in and that is knowing the car has been hit and no disclosing it. Therefore this lowers my price dramatically. Also before I bought the car I ran a carfax, and it came back clean. The way to get around carfax is to pay for any damage out of pocket.

Who was your salesman? Curry is BY FAR the most fucked up dealership I have ever seen. I shouldve never bought my car from there and instead looked at Acura of Bedford Hills where my sister just bought an RSX, or Acura of Westchester. I suggest to anyone to go to either of these dealerships. The service at curry is also horrible because they took my car out for basically a joy ride one day, and when I got the car back, my bass and treble were turned all the way up and the music was blasting.

I thought Curry was a good dealership. Don't they also sell parts online?

Either way, good luck with your fight, and I hope everything goes well for you.

UPDATE AGAIN...Called Curry with Channel 7 on the phone and curry agreed to fix any and everything on that car. They are keeping my car until everything, and I mean everything is fixed. Whats gonna be funny is when they try to re-mount the passenger side taillight and it wont go in correctly. Oh well, Ill see whats up with them when I get there. I am also going to try to squeeze stuff out of them like a OEM kit and free oil changes for life. Otherwise its going to the lawyers desk to see what I can do.

I would push even further. I would DEMAND that they refund the price difference for a normal "used" TL and the certified price (probably close to $2000 extra that you paid for the car) AND continue to honor the extended warranty. From what I've read, it sounds like you are more concerned with getting what you paid for, right?

I know exactly what you mean, but I seriously doubt they will do that. Tomorrow im going to go up to anyone I see there thinking of buying cars and informing them of what Curry does and then maybe the dealership will change their mind about fixing my problem. If I dont get money, then at the least im going to demand and OEM Kit and Oil changes free for life.

Personally, I'd make them swap your car for a similar car that you know hasn't been involved in anything. It's disheartening to know that something's happened to your TL even if it's been fixed.

I wish I could do whatever I want to them, but unfortunately I might just have to settle with this. Im sure tho by word of mouth they will lose more business then if I were to help them. We will see tomorrow

DAMN, I'm sorry to hear about all of this. I always assumed that Acura dealerships in general were excellent, cuz mine is awesome. I work at a grocery store and I see lots of Acuras come in with the Curry sticker on the back, so I figured it would be a pretty good place... Guess now.

Make sure you get what you push for, any good Acura dealership would hook your right up.

Curry Acura is by far possibly the worst dealership in the NY area. I would seriously recommend NO ONE go there. The guy today was a complete asshole, claiming that I could have done the damage to the car. I flipped it on him and told him either fix my fucking car or be sued. I wish there was more I can do, but unfortunitely I think having them fix everything is my only way to go as of now since Acura Of America basically is siding with the dealership and the NYS Fraud Dept are just a bunch of idiots.
