car heisitates then jerks before changing gears

i was driving home in my car (99) and all of a sudden after a redlight, I noticed that the car hesitates for 4 seconds or so and then jerks before changing gears. gears 1-3 are the one with this problem while 4 is fine. what is the cause of this? easy fix?

if this problem continues then bring to dealer for a check

btw...there's no way to fix the tranny on our own

I think your transmission is gone, and since you're salvage, I hope you have at least a couple'a'three grand laying around somewhere.

the problem seems to go away if the car is off for a while but come back after 5 minutes of driving. I can somewhat make it shift a littlebit smoother without much of the jerk by using SS and letting go of the gas when shifting. Would it be okay if I continue to drive the car like this until this weekend when I can get it checked out?

would it be the same problem as the 00-03 getting a sstronger clutch to prevent this from happening or just rebuild it with normal stuff?

it answers why u have the jerk

gd luck, coz running the tranny and motor without oil is NOT funny at all, it might have caused permanant damage to the engine/tranny

i dunno if it works, but if the tranny is slipping you can try some LUCAS mixed into the ATF so it will help

Maybe it has a leak? That would be my guess.. your tranny is on its way out.

if u drain the tranny and fill it up then start the car the fluid flows through the tranny, after that it would be low on the dipstick so u would have to fill it again........just my cause this happened to me when i flushed my engine on my 95 honda accord, it got low after driving it so i filled it again and it was fine!

after driving 50 miles the problem came back with check enging and tcs light. Luckily I was close to my mechanic's shop and had it checked out. One of the seal was all worn out so he thinks that cause the leak. When we got it scanned, it said something about clutch problme. That is the same problem I had when I first got the car and made me fail my smog test. But that problem went away after the tranny got drained and refill. So I hope that this will go away after the seal is replace and monitorig oil level for a while.

Check Engine and TCS light, plus all the other symptoms = dead transmission.

Sorry kiddo.

sounds exactly like what happened to my 99. The tcs and check engines lights would come and go every reset and tranny fluid change.. i tried smoothing it out with SS mode and it still came back after a few hundred miles.. then i checked the tranny fluiid it was barely there, so i refilled it and after another hundred miles it was all gone. i brought it to dealer and they changed my tranny for me.. but guess what? after 6000 miles my car is doing this again. so im gonna be seeing my third tranny in about a week. i have 67k on my car. good luck with yours

your on your third tranny already? I would think that after one tranny it would be fine, since it is not prone to failure like the 00+ The prob\lem seems to go and come back still now. If this contines I will probably have to get it rebuilt. Do you know what cause our tranny to fail? I don't want to have my tranny rebuilt and have it fail again

It's more prone to failure in 00+ cars, actually.
