Is car cover supposed to be water-proof?

I bought a el'-cheapo car cover from walmart, and yesterday there was a big rain, and this morning I found out some water still penatrate the cover and reached my car.

My question is, are all car covers supposed to be water-proof? Or not, because they have to be "breathable"?

Nope, the cheap ones are far from waterproof.

The really good ones are.

I don't go for the aftermarket car cover's I'd rather bite the bullet and pay the $125 for Honda/Acura car cover. It's waterproof and breathable material. Haven't any rain in on mine yet. My mom bought a $60 one for her Honda at Walmart and it says rain proof but it's not. And it is definitely not breathable material. But hey, you get what you pay for. Maybe someone on the board can suggest a cheaper one that is rain proof/breathable.

No car cover is water proof, its water resistant. If you want something like that go buy the Acura car cover. The cheap ones suck. Acutally I do own a water proof car cover.....my garage.....unless it roof leaks or something.

It depends on what $$$ your willing to spend on one.
CoverCraft makes all kinds in fact the factory car cover is made by Cover Craft for HONDA/ACURA. I would suggest you go to the CoverCraft website www.covercraft.com & select one. The factory car cover is quite costly but it is one of the best. Cover Craft might sell the same one a little cheaper. The name of the cover I have made by CoverCraft is weathersheild. Like I said I purchased this from ACURA dealer for my TL when I got my car. I did the same thing when I purchased my 94 ACCORD new & that cover was made by CoverCraft also. The ACCORD cover had the ACCORD logo in the front. The TL cover just has ACURA in the front.
