Car almost Redlining in 1st gear? & and disk noise?
Its Quite odd or I just don't know much about cars. My 2002 TL gets up to 6000-7000 in first gear and then kicks to 2nd. I'm not pushing the pedal to the metal either. What's quite odd is, when I got my oil changed to high mileage synthetic it stopped. Prior to that, standard oil for operation was used. Any clue? Just need to know for future ref. Also, whenever I turn on my car I hear what sounds to be a hard drive mechanism in the car. It makes a disk read noise. It only sounds at start up and I know it has something to do with the dash lights.

Welcome to the forum
What miles are you at on your 2000?
on start up the ABS brake system runs a self test that makes a SMALL noise, and again at 5 mph it runs a test and 2nd small noise- or so I am told by members here
If the engine thunks- sounds like its moving- it may have a broken motor mount-very common and usually found when the dealer has the car for trans replacement.
If there is a delay in the transmission engaging into D5- it takes more than 1-2 seconds to engage fully- thats a trans problem.
It it revs the engine under hard throttle- but doesnt make the car go faster- trans problem
Assuming not salvage title car- your 2000 has a special 7year+9 Month /109,000 miles warranty. Get it to the dealer if trans is suspect and have it checked.

If CD player alsways has a disc in it- remove it and see if that helps
Try cleaning the CD player with a CD cleaning disc- radio shack type item
