I cant say for sure, it dosent ramp up insanely. more like a constant curve. Will the VTEC not kicking in have something to do with it? I havent driven it sense friday, but again thats a good question..... Now you got me thinking

Vtec comes on at 4700 to redline- you know it when it kicks in
then car wont shift if bouncing off redline- try reducing rpm- will it SS or auto shift then?
Is it staying in 2nd gear?
As for your well founded concern of wife needing power on demand- does she really ever need vtec when there are options like slowing down and letting the truck go by on the freeway rather than trying to beat it from the onramp
A fresh set of NGK IX Iridiums will make any TL with over 60k miles run better- spend 35$ and DIY this weekend
The book doesnt call for them till 105- under normal service- but most humans cars need the severe service schedule to keep maitenamce up perfect
At this point I would run Seafoam in the intake and see if that helps
And my main suggestion- get it to a muffler shop- no sniffer required for the test you need
Your battery is new but the cables are old---

Yes it's true that it'll screw with your RPM, try just pulling the Backup Fuse on the passengers side tell me what that does. I had just the same problem you did. Except my CEL Light was on and the p0740 code showed up. Anyways I just pulled out all the fuses in the box and placed them back in nicely. The car ran perfect again.
I experienced limited RPM's and a SLAMMING of the tranny from 1-2 and occasionally 2-3. All it took was pulling a simple fuse out and throwing it back in to fix it.

Ill try that then when I get the car back. I would hope the dealer would have thought of something that simple, but you never know. I didnt. Just an FYI, my loaner TSX is a great car. Freakin awesome MPG at arround 35-36 highway. Dont much dig the lack of power, but it does good for a 4 banger. one other thing I would like to bring up here about the TL. While crusing in town at arround 45 it feals kind of like its floading in and out of gear. Could that be the torq converter going in and out of lock up?

yes- they have a tendancy do search for a gear at that speed in town
put it in D4 and that will stop
put it in D4 and that will stop

I hope they have you in a free loaner !

got the car back
well I have the car back in the driveway, and so far Im happy. I have taken it to 7200 rpm without a hitch!!! I had forgotten how fun it was. But its shifting better than ever, and not hittin any redline, but we will see. Im going to test it out alot tomorrow. Hopefully it will not act up agin. The dealer said it was a pin on an obscure plug that was throwing the computer out of wack. I dont know if that is really the problem or if they are just shooting me a line of poo, but Im going to drive the mess out if it and if it don't screw up agin Ill be excited. Keep your fingers crossed.

Well thats the funny thing. That plug wasn't suposed to be one that was unplugged... but anything is possiable. I am still wandering if that actually fixed it....

Sometimes they let the trainee remove bolts on a job and it could have been mistakenly unplugged and damaged then
I thought it was going to be a pin and bad signal~
