Can't wash car for two weeks after tinting?

I got my windows tinted this past Saturday and the shop told me I can't washbmy car for two weeks? Why is that? I thought the tints were put on on the inside? Also can I use windex to clean windows or will that mess up the tints?

Tint. I'd say you can wash the car, the tint is on the inside, therefore water on the outside wouldn't affect it, but dont quote me on this. Do NOT roll down your windows for a week though, that will mess it up.
I don't know if Windex is safe...Use Stoner's Invisible Glass.

windex will sometimes bubble the tint in the corners.. just use water and a lint free cloth..

i washed my car plenty of times after i got the windows tinted, hand washes though

IIRC, windex will also cause your tint to develop a purple hue over time

I would say to wait a week without washing or rolling down the windows to prevent water leaking into the window and thus into the tint film which would cause some bubbling and or it not to stick properly.

You might have misheard but you can wash the car..just can't clean the windows so the film can cure to the glass. All the water needs to evaporate so the film can actually stick. DO NOT use any glass cleaner with ammonia or it will ruin the film. Always make sure it doesn't have ammonia before you put anything on them. For me, if they get real dirty (which they never do ) I use a very mild soap solution using baby shampoo and drinking water..gets the glass very clean with no streaks. Just make sure you get all the soap off and dry with a lint-free towel.

A good tip is to leave your car out in the sun as much as possible after you've had the tint done. Crack the sunroof a tiny bit too to let the heat escape from the car.

Even if you can't wash the car (but I think you definitely can though, water doesn't stay on the car long enough to condense through to the inside anyways) my tints cured in less than a week. How many bubbles do you have? If it's only around a few small spots, I say you just go ahead and wash the car.

But yea, definitely leave it outside in the sun so it can evaporate easier.

Thanks for info, I got mine done Monday and I didnt put my windows down till yesterday. It's been nice & sunny here so I thought 5 days would be enough. Have not washed the car but planning on it tomorrow morning, should I be ok? I do hand washes of course.

you're supposed to use an ammonia-free window cleaner that comes in a compressed can. and you can actually wash your car a couple days after. just dont roll the windows down for a few days or it will peel the tint.
