Question Can't go into 3rd

Well I have a 03 TL-p and the car didn't let me go into 3rd. It happens once in a while not all the time. I was getting into the freeway letting the RPM's fly in SS mode, From 1st to 2nd no problem, but from 2nd to 3rd it didn't allow me to shift. I put it back to Auto and figured it would shift for me. So im in the freeway going about 60 mph in 2nd and nothing. I pulled over to the side and while im pulling over (under 40mph) the car starts to shift once again. I tried to do the problem a few times but nothing. Then I was running late went to a friends house and it did it again. Anyone know what's going on? or is it dead tranny #2?

Sure sounds like it. You should bring your car into Acura, hopefully you're still under warranty. Good luck.

the same thing has happened to me and I have found if i hold the tranny in 2nd too long (in SS mode) it won't shift out of 2nd until the revvs are lowered to about 3000rpm, for me I hold in 3rd and then downshift to 2nd when necessary rev to red line then shift back to 3rd

I had it happen a few times as well. Its not the tranny. Like others have said. Slow down a little or pop it into neutral let the rpms drop then put it back into gear.

I've also had it happen as well. It doesn't mean dead tranny. Also, if your rear speed sensors aren't working correctly it won't shift above 2nd anyways.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll just take it to Acura tell them what's going on and see what they do.

If that's the cause I wonder if acura will say anything about it. I have an intake and headers. Once again it was doing this before the headers were installed.
