Can't decide
Well, my dad wants to trade in my 03 TLS cuz he says that it has had too many problems in just the one year ive had it. So now i'm faced with a decision for a new car. He said i can get a car in the 30-35k range. I don't really have a preference for if its a sedan or coupe..just something nice looking. So the cars that i'm currently looking at are a G35 Coupe, a 350Z, 325Ci, Audi, and 04TL. I have to try and decide soon cuz there are alot of good car deals for 03's at the moment
What do you guys think i should get? I really can't decide cuz i love my car. And all my friends think my car suits me. I like the 04TL but i think its more of a 24+ year old's car. I dont think i can see myself in it. By the way, im 18. If you can give any pros or cons about any of the cars i said, feel free to say something. And if you can suggest any other cars, that would be great. Thanks

you spoiled little *****! hehe. 18yrs old and your dad is getting you a $30-35k car??? Gee wiz, what's going on now a days? If you want something young, get a Jetta and hook it up! My friend has a 1.8t and it kicks ass. I give it until summer before he torches my ass with is Jetta. If you really want something luxury, I'd say the Audi or the 04'TL.
BTW, what are you doing with your mods? I'm interested in your 6000k bulbs and the door sills.

I would defenietly look at the 04 TL, once again, most bang for the buck in my opinon. And with the sport package, I think that car can drop a couple of years... say to 17-20..hehehe. G35 Coupe is nice too, but I just dont think the interior matches up to the TL. My pick 04 TL.
By the way, are you selling any of your mods?? Let me know I would be interested. Especially in the Bulbs and Spoiler even!!

Thanks for the feedback. As for the mods..i think my brother wants to put most of my stuff on his 03CL-S(not sure yet though). Excluding the door sills but i wont be selling anything until the car is gone of course. By the way, I havent even put the sills on. They are still brand new cuz i just got them.

I dont know..im having second thoughts on the bimmer. I was looking around the bimmer forums and they were making the car seem slow. I dont know if i will be able to stand a car that is slow. I mean sure its a bimmer but so what if its slow as hell. I like the G35 alot on the outside but the inside just felt and looked so ugly. I dont know what to do..

Hmm.. I think the 04TL looks way 'younger' than the 2nd gen. It shamelessly stole a lot of it's looks from BMW, but I think it took the good stuff and left the bad (I hate the BMW front end).

6spd G35 cpe! Must have the Premium package and Aero Package w/ rear wing. I would have been all over that if I didn't want to start a family (I'm 28). However, at 18 you won't have to worry about that. Happy car hunting!

BMW is redesigning their 3 series for 2005 i believe, so i'd wait it out if you're going that route. the G35 Coupe 6-speed is loads of fun, the 350z has 2 seats, only downfall if u wanna drive friends along, The 04' TL might be your best bet for the money, and the audi, well, u didnt say which one you were looking at. (get the RS6 )

My friend has the A4, did not live up to my expectations. Bare luxury at best.....Infiniti might be your best bet depending on which options you go with. I'll be looking into the new BMW 6-Series thats coming out in a lil bit....those are nice.

Audi may not look all luxury, more like a Jetta with a few bucks into it, but the handling blows just about any car away. I didn't like the Infiniti's at all! Talk about a cheap looking car!!
I still like the Audi. with the right mods, which they a lot of, you'll not only fly, but look good doing and you'll be able to handle the car too!

anayway, if I were you, I would definately consider looking at used cars. in that price range your looking at some fairly high end vehicles. i would definately consider a gs400 or see what i could do in terms of a benz. the 350z is a sick car too. depends what you want really. fast, luxury, both?

I honestly like the g35c..The exterior styling and performance is awesome but as i said before..the interior sucks big time. Does the premium package do anything to make it look better? Maybe I should just get a used 330CI or sumthing.

my sister owns a g35 coupe and the interior just look damn ugly she told me she only wanted it because it was fast and it was something new, dont even bother with the bimmer might run into too much problem but it definitely makes u a balla or u try to be (LOL) i agree with golderdragon Audi handling is superior my brother owns a 01 S4 with 58K and that car is still a ****in maniac, but the 04 S4 is way too much for you, Nissan 350Z is very quick, I was driving my fiance's car C32 AMG and i was really suprised that car was actually keepin up with me so I guess the 04 TL is left but be honest 04 TL looks ugly to me front looks like a Pontiac and 10HP increase is also garbage, but hey thats my opinion sorry for the long comment but thats how i feel about it. Ill keep the car you got 03-Type S with mods is sick i actually own a white 00TL and 02TLS ill neva get rid off it.

Hey would your dad adopt me? I'm 41, but what the hell...
Go for a Dinan-tuned BMW M3. I think the latest Road & Track magazine has an article on it. Dinan Co. takes a maxed out M3 and makes it better.

Infiniti G35- looks too much like a hyped-up Altima.
Infiniti G35 Coupe- no comparison to sedan. But still cheap crappy looking interior (if you don't believe every car magazine out there that sez so, check one out yourself)
Audi- VW on steroids, expensive to maintain and much less reliable tha Acuras
BMW 325s- expensive to maintain, parts costly (Why not just go for a 330i or an M3)
04 TL- sorry, wouldn't touch any first year models.
How about a GS 400? That might hit the spot.
Read Consumer's Reports and find out cars on your price range that may suit you. You'll find not many cars out there come close to Acura and Lexus. Not even BMW and Audi.

If you want to get technical, the A4 shares absoutely nothing with any VW. The TT, yes, but the only thing the new A4 shares anything with is the sweet new S4. Also, if we are going down that road, then a TL is for sure an Accord on steroids. Same platform, same drivetrain configurations, same interior motifs. What's the point? Just because a company has the foresight to engineer a platform with mulitple applications in mind does not detract from anything, except the price the consumer pays.

I've been thinking and looking at the same price, models, issues, etc.
My thought was possibly an 04 TL, but more and more I've come to realize that the Germans have and continue to have the edge in the sport sedan range. On paper, it's not as clear, performance specs and price sure seem to put the Acura and Infinity in the running, but from a standpoint of depreciation, quality of build, aesthetics, etc. I'm now leaning towards a German platform.
For the price you have in mind and what you want in performance, the trade off is getting a pre-owned car. One car I've seriously considered is a 2001-2002 Audi S4. Certainly has many of the previously mentioned models beat in performance, and has a fair amount of luxury. The other option is 330/530 on a preowned basis. Don't know how new a 530 you can get for 35k - 2000? 2001? 2002? maybe? That car beats the crap out of all the others in it's class. It is the creme de la creme of the sports sedans. Loaded new is 55K unfortunately - and the new ones are not as well respected as the prior editions.
If performance is the priority get the newest M3 your dad can afford.

haha..thats kinda funny cuz this thread is soo old. I think its been a few months already. But ya, i ended up getting the G35 coupe. I picked the G cuz i love the way it looks, handles, and the speed. The interior is growing on me and it isnt all that bad once you have the car..haha. I thought about getting a Z but i got the G cuz it has more class and its just as good as the Z performance wise(and the exterior styling is way better imo). Plus, its not every day you see an 18 year old with the G coupe. I decided bmw will just be the car i get later when im older because too many people have a 3 series where i live!
