cannot remove shift knob!!

I just bought an OEM wood shift knob for around $20 shipped on ebay but can't remove my current one. I managed to turn it like 2 degrees counterclockwise but it just won't budge. I know that it can be removed just by turning, but it seems like 8 years of staying in one position "solidified" it.

Do you have any tips? Is my only hope getting a stronger person to help me turn?

What you got to do is hold the shift knob then twist only the metal ring until it screws off. it will expose an allen screw. then undo the screw and then unscrew the knob. nobody seems to know about the allen screw thats what keeps the knob from coming off. BTW it took me three weeks with a loose knob to figure this out way back when so i hope it helps

Just grab hold of it with both hands and twist. There is nothing holding it. Its just screwed on

99-01 TL knobs are held on w/ an allen scew? Interesting...
If that's true, I guess Acura realized it was overkill, as my 03 is PLENTY sturdy lol. Takes quite a turn to get it lose. No silly screws needed just a lot of threads.

Exactly, some are hard to remove, but thats all it takes to remove it. Get mad at it and twist it off.

When I was taking the sticker looking thing off my shift plate in my 1st gen the shift knob wouldn't move but then after a while of turning it slowly and loosing it a little at a time it finally came off and now it comes off whenever I need it to.

My 99 just screws right off. I didn't get a new knob, I just took off the stock one and cut down the shifter with the Dremel to make it shorter.

My 99 unscrewed also. I've never seen one with an allen screw holding it on.

cannot remove it no matter how hard i try, im guessing it's rusted inside or something. anything i can spray inside there to make it looser? maybe hotter temperatures will make it easier to remove?

i tried to use a makeshift clamp but even that didn't work.

is my knob permanently stuck, or would a stronger person be the solution?

There is no way to spray any thing on it. Nor would it do any good. Its just plastic inside.
