Post Can someone look at this for me?

I went to fill up yesterday and when I took off my 2000 TL's gas cap there was a hole. What I mean is I could have sworn there is a flap on the gas pipe filler tube but I don't have one. My 1987 Camry has one and Im not sure if I am imagining that the Acura had one too. Can someone look at their's? Someone with a 1999 told me they have one. Is this dangerous?

Red face

Thanks for all the replies. My concern isn't whether or not it was designed with one, but if it had one and the thing fell down the tube. I think its weird that some of us have them and some don't? Does anyone have a 2000 with a flap? Hmmm if our gas caps aren't on tight, then the check engine light comes on. Does this happen for 1999 TL's?

sorry... always thought i had a flap... no flap on mine... 99' flapless...
i doubt it's bad... if it was... honda wouldn't do it... besides the flap is so loose... i can move it w/a string lol... its the cap that's critical...

Really? I threw my cap away when I first got my car. Was my first mod.

So wait I'm not clear. Does anyone have a flap that you can see when you take off the cap? I hope there wasn't one cause I don't trust the dealership to take down the tank and remove and re-install the filler pipe.

No flaps as far as I know. I think Nate is kidding when he says he threw it away.

I remember having flaps on my Preludes. I guess you don't need'em if Acura didn't make'em.

Cool

There's no flap on my 2001TL. The dealer dude tells me to make sure the cap is on tight or the light will come on. I think the flap would help to reduce fumes leaking out of your car while you have the cap off, but the TL has a recovery system already and don't need the flaps. I like how the TL has the cap holder on there, this way I never have to forget putting the cap back on!

Yea, the gas cap holder is pretty handy! I'm glad Honda put it on the Accords too!

Wink

'00 & no flappy thing!...I think that most cars I've had in the past had them...think they're to keep from dropping "stuff" in there besides the gas hose filler!

We have the "holder" in 4th and 5th gen Preludes also. (...from my own personal experience, this is really handy!)
