Can a 17" x 7" wheel fit 235/45/17

Can a 17" x 7" wheel fit 235/45/17
Tire rack claims that its too wide to fit on a 7" wheel. But I believe that the stock type S wheels are 17" x 7" and I know shoofin has 235/45/17. just want to make sure. thanks

I know someone that put a 295/50 tire on a 15x7 wheel. Don't ask how he did it, but he did it.. It went on a Muscle car..an old Mustang. Realistically speaking, I wouldn't go wider than 245 on a 7 inch wheel. BTW, I didn't put the 235's on in the end. I chose 225's.. I'd rather be safe than sorry...
