However, there are less expensive pulleys that also work with no issues.

You can buy my nitrous kit 3 beans plus ship.
And you will not make power like that for anywhere close to 300.
with a 100 shot you will beat a fully bolted type S easy.
100 shot will give you 80hp.
And my kit has jets for 100 shot.

Yes. Gains are about ~7hp for stock sized. ~9hp for underdrive.

They are kinda expensive for just 7hp but I have a feeling ti might improve mpg's but probably not since ill end up stomping on it more.

Everybody in here's a noob.
I guess you guys never heard the phrase...
"vtack just kicked in... yo"
If anything, we should lower vtack engagement to 750rpm and save the secondary vtack when someone's trying to race you. (We have a V motor, that means 2 vtacks)

QUIT thinking in just the HP number. There is A LOT more to gains than just a number. A UR crank pulley will show itself throughout the entire rpm band. It will allow the motor to spin quicker.

You guys really need to learn to use the search button

He's being serious. Once you've been on AZine for a while, you'll learn all about the secondary vtak, and how to make it kick in harder. Most people don't know it, but changing your vtak fluid can actually get you +20-25hp.

You just have to ask the parts guy at your dealership for the special vtec fluid. Tell him AZine sent you. He'll know what we're talking about. Most dealerships charge about $5-10 per quart. You need 4.7 quarts to flush it.

very true, especially once it gets low, it won't engage anymore

There is still a noticeable cross over on our cars, but nothing like the 4cyl dohc motors of the past. Major upgrades are NOT necessary to achieve gains. Im not sure what your idea of a gain is, but with many put together very nice gains can be had.
I just mean that if you were to put enough performance parts on it, you would be changing the stock engineering spec and you could theoretically change the torque curve such that a slightly earlier or later VTEC RPM could be more optimal. But, I also said that you will only know that after making the changes and putting it on the dyno. I'm not suggesting to change the VTEC RPM on a stock car. (Nobody has *proven* the VTEC engagement time for Joe Blow's personal upgrade configuration and only he can test that.)

you do know your VTEC fluid is your oil....

4.7 quarts is right about right for an oil change with filter

by spec it calls for about 4.7, but yeah it's easier to just dump the full 5 quarts in, and have it a little full, to allow loss-age (and even then, that is with a STOCK size filter, not a over sized one, so yeah 5 quarts is about the right amount with a bigger filter)
