Exclamation CAI w/ Bypass TESTED! IT REALLY WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well it was pouring in Houston today. I had to drive to downtown Houston in BAD rain! In part of I-1o, it was flooded on the freeway.... The water was kinda high...
I covered the sidewall of the tires, and kinda 1 inch up the rims... with the current my car made, I am sure the filter was in the water.... At first I was like, SHOOT! Well I had no choice, but to rolled through the water with the gas pedal let go...

Well after 20sec in the water (seems like an hour), I got out the water SAFE! and then through out the whole trip home, it was in BAD rain with hail! Well I got home safe!

I poped the hood, and where the intake area at was totally dry! Wow, I am totally happy with the CAI, and just suprised that it's that safe! Yall should go out and feel free to drive in the rain!

Just wanna share this with yall!

I actually meant to post this a while ago. I was washing my car and thinking about something mr. tl (think it was him) had said... that theres a gasket in front to keep out water but nothing to stop water from getting on the filter from the side (this is short ram, no by-pass valve). So I wash the car. Pop the trunk. Filter is quite wet. I've washed my car many times since I installed the intake and its rained plenty. Granted its never been submerged (thank god) but I really don't like the fact that it gets wet!

Whew, I was afraid you'd think it was wierd I think about you in my spare time. Maybe you could come over tonight? LOL

I dunno... I'm thinking maybe a gasket on the hood that was pinched between the hood and fender when closed might work...

Check out the April 2001 edition of Sport Compact car...they immersed the AEM filter end in a container of water with and without the bypass valve to see what happens... I never read it, so I don't know the verdict...

Question

Do you guys notice a great increase in performance with the AEM CAI system? I've been debating whether or not to do it. What are the pros and cons?
Thanks,
Peter.

It's on April edition of Sport Compact Car too.

They tested the AEM By pass valve on an NSX with the filter submerge in a fish tank fill of water and a custom made clear tube .... At full throttle, the water rise up but never pass the valve.
