CAI question

Is it really worth getting a AEM or INJEN CAI? Will I notice any significant increase in performance? Please advise. Thanx

I just got mine installed last weekend, and I love it! I think there's a noticeable increase in power throughout the band (but more toque than horsepower). But then again, what do I know. It could be the fact that I just dropped over $200 on a part and seek to justify the cost with imaginary gains in power.

But I digress... The gushing of air at low/mid rpms sounds cool. The 'roar' (for lack of a better word) at WOT is.. a unique experience. I havent really decided if I love it or not yet. Since I only had 700 miles on the car when I installed it, I kind of forgot what the stock vtec plenums sound like. oh well.. its in now.. and thats where its staying - for better or worse.

I agree!
I do notice that my car is faster off the line and also throughout the rpm band. The sound is intoxicating and I LOVE IT! You will definitely notice a gain in hp and torque once the weather gets colder. I can't wait until Fall and Winter...watch out!

Infamuz,

Not sure if it really does give that much hp.

I don't think I've read ANYONE that regrets putting a CAI on their car, including me. Do a search, and you'll see everyone likes it.

I have an AEM as do most, but some have an Injen and they like it as well, so if you don't mind $200 bucks, you should get one too!

I was thinking of getting a CAI also...
but what's this about resetting the ECU?
What does that involve?

AND... has anyone done any comparison tests between the Injen and AEM? Which one should I get?

My brother dyno his car (NOT TL) and both Injen and AEM lost about 1ft lbs of torque and only gain about 1hp. it probably feel quicker because of the awesome sound when the vtec kick in .... Maybe TL is different .....

you can look at the dyno for a tl w/and w/o an intake... i think the power is well above 1hp and 1ft/lbs torque...closer to tha 10-15HP range...Shyne

Shyne,
Not that I don't believe you or anything... but do you know where I can get a hold of the dyno results you're talking about?

Thanks!
