which CAI?
I'm going to get a cold air intake this week and was set to get the AEM model. However, I was advised by someone here to get the Injen instead as they felt it delivered more power...I have seen some info on the AEM gains and plenty over the installation, sound and specs, but npt much on the Injen...
Any help would be appreciated...

what about the comptech icebox?
Has anyone bought the icebox yet??...i heard it's out already for the Type S.
btw, i think AEM and injen are about the same. Plus or minus 1-2 hp difference between the two. Dunno how it stacks up against the icebox.

ive ordered the icebox and its shipping out today. dean on the cl board does it for 240$ shipped. the gains are pretty high because of the design and its got the bypass valve built in. i like it because of the clean look and warranty purposes.

Both AEM and Injen make good quality intake (it's only a metal pipe afterall). Not meant to be a flame, but it just boggles my mind how some people think that the intake will significantly increase hp. It doesn't. To me, I got the Injen mostly for the sound and the look when I pop the hood open. I got the Injen because it was a bit cheaper than the AEM. Now, if you really want some additional umph to the engine, headers is the way to go. Just think of the intake as more of a cosmetic enhancement if you will.

Get the Comptech Ice Box. 16 hp @ 3500 and 16 lb of torque @ 3500. My .02 cents.

axleback, I am with you on that. I rather burn the 200 bucks then to give it to a manufacture for a CAI. Im running a stock air box with a K&N(little more air flow) and some custom tubing under it to create the ram air effect. Price of mod 40 bucks. The same performance if not better when doing 60mph + and having air forced in![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
My next step is to design my custom exhaust to be in a low presure area(tail pipes to end and cut on an angle to cause a venturi pump effect. What this does is pulls the exhaust out of exhaust pipes and from the engine. The faster the exhaust can be pulled from the cylinders the more fuel and air you'll get sucked in. When done right it could have the same effect as a supercharger.....

I see no dyno scans yet for the icebox. Just a long post of nothing on the other board.
Just by the looks of it, I don't follow how the icebox is suppose to "flow" better than the AEM or the Injen. (btw: check out JuniorBean's site to see his Injen install)
It still has an accordian joint inline which would create turbulance (my guessing) compared to a smooth mandrel bent tube like the AEM or the Injen. Not to mention, the air has to flow through that box (more turbulance ?). 16 hp / 16 lbs ?...ya got me.
The other argument between the low, mid and high gains is a mystery to me. From what I remember reading, it sounds like the icebox is aiming to increase the midrange power, while the AEM/Injen solutions handle low and high range better.
Ehhhh, waiting to see the dyno slip scan.....if it actually exists. Still up in the air as to what to go with. By far though, the AEM or Injen looks a hell of a lot better when you pop the hood.

Welp, I got the Injen and I freakin' LOVE it! The sound is incredibl,e at full throttle and it has become my favorite mod. I'll post some pics soon. I got it from 'importcult' who runs Speedzone in Orlando (and did the install). Much props to them and thank you guys for your input!
