Cai...

I am about to install my CAI on thursday, and well I saw the FAQ in this forum, the directions AEM sent, and some link from the CL forum that has pictures... does anyone know which way is the easiest..and if the WHOLE Bumper needs to be removed?

I found out that the AEM directions were good, but some things were unnecessary. Example you don't have to take off the left front tire. I actually used both the FAQ sheet and the AEM directions together. This is not a very hard task to do. and yes you do have to take off the front bumper. This should not take you long. I have taken the front bumper off twice already and I now can get it off in just a few min.

Good luck and by the way when you first turn the car on with that new CAI I must warn you it will hiss loud when the car is cold. This is normal. But don't worry you'll get used to the noise. You will not be able to hear it when you have the windows up.

oh yeah I'm sure you will have to cut a couple inches off the cuff of the filter so your bumper will fit properly.

Use the directions from the CL FAQ.... http://wizardsworks.org/chod/acura/cai/

It shows you how to go through the fender rather then removing the bumper. These are the directions that I used and found them to be very accurate (and I have an Injen, not an AEM)!! Good luck!!

Buy it from this site and install it in Park Ave Acura. It won't void your warranty.

Nick....
Yonkers huh? not to far from my job (Harrison). I live in Northern Westchester though (Cortlandt Manor).

Anyway, the only way your warranty would be voided is if they can prove that the problem you're bringing your car in for was caused by the CAI. Most dealers usually aren't too bad with this stuff... I mean I had my CL inspected twice with a short-ram intake with no problems.

I bought my Injen from here and installed it myself. Took me about 2 hours as I'm not too mechanically inclined, but it works. Most places probably wouldn't charge over $50-$75 to do the install, so that's probably worth it. I don't know any shops in the area, but I'm sure you can find some down there....

hp increase?

I have a couple of newbie ?s.

Just curious how much hp this CAI would add. Also, is the added hp evident through out the rpm range?

Lastly, does it change the exhaust sound much (ricey)?

Many thx.

I just re-installed the Xephyr CAI that I took out of my 2001 CL in the new ride on Saturday.
Except for the throttle body end, it’s similar to the AEM install.

Check out the link for my description and a few photos of the install.
Note: I did NOT remove the bumper or left front tire.
All I did was jack up the left side for some working room under the car.

its not that hard............the bumper comes off by removing like 20 plastic screws and the intake takes like 10 minutes to put on after that

What is the reason you guys are saying you need to take the bumper off for?
I’ve never heard of anyone doing this.

hey junoirbean you know that link you posted on installing the aem cai, in the last picture you can see he didnt take off the stock pipe trhat runs across he used the extension to hook it to the lower nipple on the pipe. are you supposed to take that stock pipe off and use the 1/2 inch tube aem gives you to connect to the lower nipple?

and the same thing for the upper stock tube take it off and use the aem tube to connect to the upper nipple?

cause someone told me you wer supposed to do that? but in your pic it isnt done this way?

whats going on?

cause i have one tube left over from the aem kit.
