looks good... did you end up using hairdryer and tar and bug remover?

Man now I need to put the badging back on :P

Looks very clean... when you removed the badging did it leaving any of the acura or 3.2tl on the paint?

Well.. maybe there is another black one out there debadged with spoiler and kit rolling around..

I like the look of it.. I'm thinking just the 3.2TL part and leaving the A and ACURA on.. it just looks so clean..

that's cool... hey so are you up for the laker game tommorrow? I think some co-woker's and I will be watching it somewhere in rwc or foster city...

and a modified tl in fremont... hmm... uncommon occurence.

I think there are probably folks we don't know that have their cars done out there.

oh well.

Looks good man! Actually it look exactly like my car. I took the badges off about 2 months ago. I cant believe that taking the badges off would make such a differnce.

Edub,
I am near Fremont, but I just debadged the car last Sunday. Fremont is near so it may have been me that your friend saw.

My reasons for debadging:
1. The letters were a pain when I was detailing my car - drying, polishing, and waxing. Always obtrusive.
2. With the NBP color, I think it really opens up the black on the rear end. Looks cleaner to me.
3. Since I have the Inspire sills with the Inspire emblem, I can say the car is an Inspire

BTW, for the folks looking to debadge:

I used dental floss to remove all the badging. I went through quite a bit and did not use a heat gun or hair dryer. Removing the lettering was not a problem, removing the excess adhesive was a pain and took me several hours.
I used Blue Magic bug and tar remover (I couldn't find the Mother's brand and I think any brand will work) and some "natural" degreaser; it was the kind made out of oranges I think.
I kept on working this stuff in, letting it settle for a minute, then used a rag to remove it. Mostly the effort was using the rag and my fingers with the rag (back and forth motion) to get the stuff off.

BlackTL2k, im surprised you had such trouble getting the letters off. I used dental floss also but it took about 10 minutes total! I used the floss to get the letters off, then i rubbed off the excess sticky stuff with my fingers. Then i waxed the trunk with a good cleaner wax and thats it.

The letters were easy, but that excess adhesive was a pain. I started using my fingers without the rag, but then I realized I may scratch or damage the clear coat with my finger nails.
Once I removed all the adhesive, I used Meguires scratch remover and finished it with polish/wax.
How long did it take you to do the whole thing? Was it 10 minutes total? That would be a world record!

Maybe b/c my car was fairly new and the adhesive didnt get to bond too well. It took about 10-15 minutes to get all the letters off including the adhesive. Then i waxed the trunk but that wasnt included in the total time. I didnt have to use my nail really, just rubbed with my finger. what kind of adhesive was on your car? That grey double sided tape stuff right?

Yeah, it was that grey stuff and there was a lot of it. I used my fingers to get as much off as I could before I started with the rag and chemicals.

I used Dental Floss too. Took like 15 mins.

I just washed the car and used Mequiars Quick Detail. All gone.

I left the 3.2TL on though.

I broke my custom badge so I had to get another made. Soon.. Soon..

Question

I have one question on getting the A_C_U_R_A
letters off. Are they held on with adhesive and pegs, Like the Acura Logo?

If so I'll be taking them off as soon as this rain stops.

Talking

i just blow dried it for about 2 mins and pealed it off with my finger nails and keep rub off the glue off. only material needed was a blow dryer.

I just took off the 3.2 TL. Personally i like the ACURA on the back.

Don't u guys think the back is a little plain. Even with Mods (body kit + exhaust) it looks like stock. the front is a different story

I think it may depend on the color. I think with the Nighthawk Black Pearl, it really makes the Black standout and open up the rear.
