well thats good news! Im sure everyone who contributed was concerned of water pump failure or worse and you still need to find source of coolant loss

to confirm testing method- the cap was tested and help pressure?
you had the heater on hot and the radiator pressure held at 16 for 30 minutes or more?

ck the rubber hose attached to inside of res cap is there- it likes to fall off and into the coolant- without it the system wont work

try a putty knife scraper on the plastic- its putting toxic fumes into the cabin so be sure to run fresh air and if possible run rear windows down and inch to create a fresh air suction

ck cabin filter too

Glad you found the plastic, but I'd still be worried about the res tank, there is a problem if its not full.
And I would wait till the motor is cool, then go under there with a lighter/small torch and a blade or other scraper and just barely heat it up, just enough to soften it up and pull it off.
