Question Burnout/Tranny question

Lately I got these stickier tires, right? So obviously it's harder to smoke 'em right off the line with TCS off in gear.

Just sorta happened that I had it in nuetral with high revs and I bumped it into D5...man it smoked 'em GOOD. Oh my gosh...soooo good. So anyways, I thought I'd try it again...I've been doing it all weekend.

Basically set in Neutral, rev to 4-5 grand, shift into D5 and man they burn. Actually...it even works better from a little roll too. BUT....I don't feel ANY clunking in the gears...the basic feeling you get when your tranny is having "enough". On most automatic cars what I've been doing IS NOT a good idea, but since ours is a little different than most...I thought I'd ask before I went and started doing that junk all the time.

Any input??

ken!!! Thats called a neutral drop, its one of the worse things you can do!!! STOP DOING IT!!!!! Im serious, you will really **** things up doing it that way. If you really want to burn out the tires, just put on the ebrake and do a stand still smoke show.

but dont ever do the neutral drop ever again man!!!!

No wonder why there are so many TL tranmission problems reported on this board.

OMG... I can't believe that people actually do that to their own car...

but anyways... it's VERY bad for your tranny, very stressful...

sure the tranny can handling the engine power at let's say 5000rpm.

But if you from the tranny to move from 0 rpm, and all of a sudden 5000rpm of force. The stress on the tranny is just way too harsh...

Power Brake it if you have to... You can get the best launch this way...

Not good for your tranny either but better than popping it into drive from neutral.

Only do it once in a while to show off to hot girls... other than that CHILLLLL..... If you do do it, never rev your engine above 3k or 3.5k I used to do it all the time on my 95 V6 accord, I stopped doing it when I got new rims and tires...

Dont be a cheap ass when you need to get your tranny FLUSHED because of all the metel peices. I wouldn't give a **** IF I had a waranty, but I don't have a warranty soo I CHILL on the neutral dropping.

Not to be mean, but you are a dumbass doing that. You probably just killed the life of your tranny.

smarta$$ comments from Eskimos,
That was not a smart comment. I am a stupid guy tired of hearing people b*tch about transmission failures. But anyone with a shred of common sense would know not to do "neurtal drops".

I had a buddy who did this on his car often and he burnt up the tranny in his car in a couple months.

OK so after reading the ENTIRE thread I was expecting ken2000ac
to post that he was only kidding...but nope...no post. :wow:

So far I've only done that once from 3k...but I wasn't driving at the time and no I wouldnt let the guy who did that to my new car drive it ever again. Shocked the hell out of me when I saw him trying to do it though...but the VSA was on so I think I may have been saved. Oh well.

It's rather a lot of money though- around $4k if you don't have a warranty.

Oh boy that is bad. We got a homcoming car this year, and on homecoming day we did so many drops that we eventually stripped out all the brackets and all the engine could do was rev. Boy they are fun to do tho, but not on a nice car!
