burned cds?!!!!
ok i have tried 2 different brands of CD's and i burned them both at the lowest speed possible... i did one on iTunes at 1x speed and my stereo knew how many songs were on it but it would just keep making that noise and try and play but would never start... but at least it never rejected it.. what can i possibly do to make a burned cd to work in my radio? i had a 98 Volvo that played burned cds just fine as long as they werent scratched and that was the OEM radio and those cds were at high speed... i dont understand! HELP!

What year TL do you have? The 99-01 TLs are notorious for not playing burned CDs. Its highly recommended by many to find a used 02-03 CD player (they play burned CDs better) or by an aftermarket CD player.

Its a known issue that the 99-01 doesnt like to play CD-Rs. "some" have had luck trying different brands. others no dice. The best bet is to buy a 02-03 6disk hu or a aftermarket radio

okay let me see where your coming from. your saying if you have a non navigation system with a regular CD player in your car now, can you put a navigation with a CD player in your car now?
because its a yes to both answers. and if your trying to just take the cd player from a navigation unit then it can work either way...
other members can you chime in on my post...

oh ok thanks for the help, reason for asking is because car-part.com asks if i have navigation or not... and i said no and the nearest radio is like 300 miles away.. and if i click with navigation there is one like 20 miles away... so i was just tryin to figure out if the radio will work even if i dont have navigation... i would hope that it does but who knows with cars.. lol

I have an 02 and it works fine with all different brands of blank CDs. Actually the CD player stopped working a few months ago so now it doesn't work with any CDs. But I got one of those cassettes with the headphone jack thing and plug my MP3 player into the cassette deck and it sounds better and louder than CDs. You can pick those up for $10 or less. Walmart has them for like $10.

is there anyone that can confirm that the 02-03 TL radio will play burned cds at high burn speed or do they need to be low burn speed as well? and how good does it play them?

dude the 02-03 plays burned cds regardless the speed. they are updated cd players. the 99-01 were not cd burned compatiable. it was only a certain burned cds from a maker was able to work.

Again, Make sure its a TL radio and not a CL radio.

I had the same issue with my 00' TL, It wouldn't ready any other cd but SONY blank cd's. It took a couple of seconds to load and then I could enjoy my cd. BTW no other brand worked for me!

i noticed some of the cd-r's from 2000 worked in my car but some just didn't. the older the cd-r the higher chance of it working for me but i guess that doesn't matter.
so i guess it's not just my car that doesn't like cd-r's huh...
