Bumper Sides are not reinforced..

Recently, I noticed my car's bumper... along both sides right behind the rear wheels where you install splash guards for the rear, are hella wobbly... like they are missing a cross bar to prevent that from moving. It isn't reinforced like any of the otehr cars i have. Is this normal or is this because someone forgot to put somethinb back in at the dealership? If so, I should take it back and make them fix it right? Again, bumper is secure, except for my ability to pull/push the sides of it behind the wheel.

Nope, that is normal, the only thing holding the side of the rear bumper is 1 screw that mounts it to the quarter panel and a plastic retainer clip that clips onto the black plastic wheel well cover. There is no cross bar for the front or rear bumper.

The rear bumbers down there are pretty resilient when bumping in to anything accidentally. The winkest link is the paint, as shopping carts or other cars clipping you won't damage that body panel as easily since its flexible. I know because i've got into a minor fender bender. A lady in an IS 300 rear ended me on the passenger side panel. I had some paint damage, she had smashed her drivers side quater panel. My damage estimated only under $100. Her damage, well, at the minimum she needed a new quarter panel, it could not be popped out, it was pretty bad for such a small incident.

Thumbs down rear bumper

I wish you were right about no damage, an old fart backed his pickup truck into the side of my rear bumper near the corner, he was just barely moving but did $1850.00 damage to my car. the plastic bumper just buckled in and bent my rear quarter panel causing the tail light to break, paint was not even damaged on the quarter panel but bumper and tail light had to be replaced, also the floor of the trunk was bent.

Was he a barely moving freight train? That amount of damage doesn't happen from a light tap

Must have been because a F350 back up into my car. Only dmg the taillight and the bumper caved in a little but I pushed it back out and it just had paint scruffs.
