bumper guards
Hey all, new owner of a 2003 SSM TL-S. I love this car!
Whenever I go somewhere though, i'll be parallel parking into tight spots. And if any of you know Brooklyn, people don't care if they bump the sh.t out of your car when they're backing in or pulling out. So- do I get those ugly looking bumpy strips of plastic for the front and rear bumpers. If so, where do i get them and how much? Or should I hope for the best, and if and when paint gets chipped off I'll apply paint to 'patch' it up.

dont do it! Just park a little farther. I live in brooklyn and i drove all over... and boy can some of those spots in chinatown, bay parkway brooklyn, queens be tight but i think it makes the car look really bad with them on.
btw, welcome! where in bklyn are u located? i am over by exit 13 on the belt.

If you can, park further and walk. I hear your pain about tough spots, but putting on those bumper guards just make the TL look bad. No offense to anyone who has them.
It's like getting a "I luv Mom" tatoo on your car.

If I were you I wouldnt spend all that money on a nice new car when living in Brooklyn. Man I hate that place, every car is contantly getting hit and run.
(sorry i sound so bitter, had my car hit at ocean pkwy and 18th a few months ago while i was visiting)

I lived in Brooklyn for 20 years. Don't do it. If you want get the Clear bra for the rear and front. I know that its really only for rock chips, but it could save your bumper. I hate those guards.

Easy Madcat! As I'm reading thru this thread, I believe Alex23 is refering to OTHERS that are bumping his TL constantly, NOT Him. Alex23, I agree w/ others, don't get that ugly stuff for your bumpers

There's actually an old man with an ABP TL-S in my neighborhood (or at least he used to have it, I don't see it anymore) with chrome OEM rims and he had these chrome bumper guards on the back of the car and they didn't take away from the appearance of the car at all. I guess if you are looking to get some bumper guards for the TL, don't go to the car wash, try to get some special-order ones that would accent your car perfectly.
Since this thread is basically about parking in Brooklyn (and I know, I parked along Shore Road in Bay Ridge to go to school for 2 years, and I live in Mill Basin and work in a place where the parking lot is full of old people who don't care about anything), all you guys should check out the Meet & Greet section. We are looking to start a meet in Brooklyn/Queens, and since a lot of you guys live here, let's get it goin! Peace...

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I think the bigger worry in the BK are people jacking your headlights. Park in a brightly lit spot rather than worrying about your bumpers. Just do a search and you'll hear the heartache of our NYC homeys.
