I recently purchased the 2002 TL-S tail lights with the 2002 wiring for my 99 TL. However I found that I can not move all light bulbs from the 99 TL tail lights to the 2002 tail lights.

Does anyone know the types of bulbs are needed for the 2002TL tail lights? Any cool bulbs for the tail lights white or blue? Polarg maybe?
I think I need new turn signal lights.

I'm too lazy to find the post for you but search for bulbs and it will come up.

1156A type is what you need for the signals in the 02 wiring, file off one of the ears and they fit.

All others are same.

7440 is the turn signal. I'll sell you mine for a few bucks. They don't fit my 02 Tail setup. I never even tried to put them in. I have a pair of red and a pair of amber.

Boba, the dealer shipped me the wrong wiring harness and now they said it was on backorder. So I had to use one new one and one old one. For the old harness, I used a 7440A bulb which I picked up at Pep Boys for $5 / pair. They don't have it up where all the other bulbs are at, just ask for it at the back counter.

The lense with the 7740A actually looks less orange than the 1156A bulb. At night, they flash the same color but during the day, one side seems to have more of a orange tinge to it.

I'm planning to replace all the lights in the 2002 tail light assembly. Just makes things easier if I sell the car.
Do you know what fits in the parking, brake, and reverse lights. Also does the 1156A fit for the turn signal? Is it amber?
BTW I have the 2002 wiring kit for these tails.

Also did you make it to the HIDaze? It was really not that exciting and there were no TL shown. I found a couple in the parking lot though...

what are you using for the lights in your 2002 tails? Do you have 2002 wiring harness? I do.

I've trying to buy lights but I'm have a hard time getting them from the local Pep Boys on Sunday and I have not called Acura parts department yet.

I'm confused with all the posts as to what will fit... is it 1156A or 7440 for the 2002 wiring?

If you have the wiring harness, you have to buy the 1156A and file off on of the ears and then it will fit perfectly.

I have the original harness with a bracket holding it in.

for the 02 harness, The brakes are 7443 which are a double filiment bulb, there are not any parking lights in the tails. These bulbs light up for parking and also when you brake. Reverse are also 7440. If you want some brighter ones you can replace them with some Polarg M-6 which I plan to do along with many of the other bulbs in my car.

The only different ones are the signals,
99-01 are 7440 type bulbs, the 02 uses a bulb like the 1156A, except you have to file off one of the pegs on the side of the bulb itself to get it to fit. Yes the 1156A is amber.

Yeah I made it to HIDaze, it was ok. OMFG!! There was a sh!tload of people! Did you check out the displays at the Kenwood and Valvoline booths?? YEAH!!! the cars were nice too. I didn' see ANY TLs either on display, only one in the parking lot with a wings west kit. Hey maybe you saw my TL, I have a silver with 02 tails.

Seems like video in you cars was the theme at the show.. sure wish I knew of someone like StreetEffectz around N. Cali so I can hook my TL up with video.

There was a hot chick in the Kenwood Car... Did not see the model at the Valvoline booth. I did see the Kenwood video screen... I wondering if Snook789 has the instructions to get a motorized kenwood video screen working in the space between the radio and a/c.

Ok, I read and did all the searches, and I know this is really repetitive, but.....
Bulbs for '01 Harness:
Brake = 7443
Signal = 7440
Reverse = 7440

Bulbs for '02 Harness:
Brake = 7443
Signal = 1156
Reverse = 7440

My problem is that I bought some new PIAA 7440 bulbs for the Reverse lights for my new '02 harness. These wedge bulbs are waaaayyy too big to fit in the harness. So evidently the '02 Reverse light is NOT a 7440. Anyone know what it really is???

Its a w2 style. The M-6 is one that fits. The PIAA bulb is the 19224. The plug is the same size as a 168/194. But the actual bulb is bigger. Both 01 and 02 use the same one.
