Building turbo pipes...

Ok, just got back from Grand Muffler in Marietta with a consultation on making all my turbo piping. They said roughly it would cost 250-350 for steel Intercooler piping, and about 450 for exhaust piping including making a downpipe from the exhaust manifolds. But, they said if I have to go with aluminum Intercooler piping that would be 200 more. So I am looking at a max of $1,000 just for piping alone. Now I could make sure to go all the weld-on stuff for the IC pipes in mild steel. So now we are at 800, but I still think that is a little high. Sounds like they do really good work though.

Anybody from that area please give me some other suggestions. I want to shop around before I commit to this place.

I know of a place in Lilburn called exhaust wizard. I know they do custom exhaust work.

thats expensive man .. find someone that is into cars and is interested in doing this and youl lget ab etter deal

i had a full turboback made for my jetta for 300 dollars

you should be able to get intercooler piping for 300-500 IN ALUMINUM .. aluminum is not as expensive as the price increase would make it seem.

Also, make sure they dont just bend pipe and then give it to you. Make sure they test fit the hell out of the piping allowing for atleast 1/2" of play

yeah...it's weird tho. I went to a place called knowledge performance in kennesaw and they said anywhere from 1500 to 2800 and 2-3 weeks...Grand Muffler where I got that first quote from said about 800 and two days. And they will install it on the car with all the stuff on (IC, turbo, BOV, WG, Add. injector) and then take it back off to give it to me...I have one more place to go talk to and then I will decide. Like I said tho, Grand Muffler is experienced. They build drag cars all the time.

To quote this guy that said this on a Canadian forum:

"Turbos are like sex. Do it right or don't do it."

Your best bet is to get the shop who has the most experience in
building turbos. It sounds like Grand Muffler would be your best
bet, as they build drag cars all the time (as you say). What you
pay a bit more for is the shop's experience and know how, and
you knowing that there won't be any sloppy work or problems
after the turbo is fully installed. My

Should be done on schedule (week of march 7th) ...all I have left to get is the fuel pump and have the piping made...still trying to contact walbro to make sure I get the right model. I really just think it depends on OBD1 or OBD2...just want to make sure that is how they do it...this is what I have so far...

For the piping, definitely get aluminum.... As for the pump, if you're going to go Walbro, make sure it's the 255HP (high pressure) model. (if that will work on a TL)
